    Weight control in pregnancy

Proper nutrition during pregnancy requires special attention to weight control: it is a matter of health, much more than an aesthetic fact.

At the end of the gestational period, the weight gain should not exceed 9/12 kilograms ; therefore, on average, about one kilo a month. In reality, however, in the first three months the increase should be minimal, and indeed it is normal that it is even zero, while in the last quarter it can happen to take a little more than a kilo a month.

To adequately control the increase, one should weigh oneself regularly, about once a week, in the morning, undressed and fasting. The weight should always be noted.

In the event of an excessively rapid weight gain or, for example, more than one kilo in ten days, it is important to notify your gynecologist or your family doctor, especially if swelling occurs on your hands and feet. It is also important to communicate to the doctor also a possible weight loss, especially if significant.
