The fourth element of the Wu Xing cycle is Metal .
It is associated with the West and North-West directions, the planet Venus, and with its contracting energy represents the autumn.
The emotion associated with the Metal element is sadness, crying. Furthermore metal is associated with resistance, authority, represents strength but also power and justice. Authoritative people often have a strong Metal element in the BaZi natal chart . Like a sword, a knife that cuts precisely, a screw that enters - at a precise point - people with balanced Metal are very precise in their actions and decisions. If in excess the Metal element can represent itself with too much discretion, coldness in the behaviors, which however is easily controlled by the Fire . In fact, a little more 'heat' given to the people of Metal means that they become less rigid, shy and more open.
The parts of the body belonging to this element are the large intestine, the lungs and the nose. The associated flavor is strong, firm, intense, spicy. How can we introduce the Metal element into our environment? The bells, the metal wind plays with their metallic sound, the Tibetan bells, the round objects, spherical and white, light gray, and metallic-silver, gold colors are the classic representations of this element.
In the Wu Xing cycle according to the 5 Elements the metal energy is used to reduce the Earth element , produce the Water element , control the Wood and destroy the Fire.
According to Ba Zhai, for example, the Metal element may be suitable for strengthening the Nien Yen sector (Love and Relationships).
According to the Flying Stars instead the Metal is represented by 2 stars - one associated among other things to the authority, to the order and social position, while the other to gossip, losses, chaos without rules, losses, damages. Of course it all depends on the surroundings and on the combinations with the accompanying stars inside the house.
For more information on the 5 elements follow us in the coming weeks. We anticipate that we will deal with the theory of the 5 elements aimed at our character. With the next article dedicated to the element the Water instead, next week we will conclude our cycle of introduction to the Theory of 5 Elements of Wu Xing.
