The raw food movement, better known as " raw food" in Italian, is slowly gaining ground and more and more credit, exactly as, in its time, it happened for veganism, which today is recognized, accepted, and even proposed, while, initially he was taunted and seen as a dangerous health utopia.

Today many websites provide information on the most suitable places to find raw food and on the preferred periods of the year: there are restaurants, communities, festivals and events, places that are ready to welcome raw foodists from all over the world, but also supporters. There are those who venture slowly in this territory, those who want to do it only temporarily, and of course, many onlookers.

But what are the characteristics of a country that wants to offer a valid raw food proposal?

- Prosperity : it must be a country blessed by Mother Nature, rich in characteristic and varied fruit and vegetables for most of the year. In general, tropical, subtropical, Mediterranean and other places such as the African coasts, the oceanic islands, the countries around the Caspian Sea and the Black Sea.

- Biological : ok, maybe claiming organic food, especially where this culture is not widespread, is too much. But we must certainly take an interest and study how agriculture is practiced in certain countries. An excess of pesticides and fertilizers does not at all agree with the raw food culture.

- Water : an important aspect of the raw food diet is the quality of the water with which the food is cleaned before being served. And this is why in our short list you will not find, India, sub-Saharan countries, Central America and Egypt with their curses of Montezuma and Tutankhamen.

Australia

Undoubtedly one of the paradoxes of raw food is Australia: rich in green communities, long-standing permaculture experiences, scattered all over the country (with the exception of the desert areas). Many of these communities offer vegetables and fruit of the highest quality and in the cities the raw food culture is particularly widespread and there is no difficulty in finding raw dishes, not just salads. In Australia you can be sure about the quality of food and cooking, the English language is at home and finding what we are looking for is very simple. One last note: in Australia we find fruits and vegetables from all over the world, some even very rare and sought after. It's really worth it.

Florida and California

What has been said for Australia is almost entirely valid also for two US states: Florida and California . Here too we find it easy to communicate thanks to English and Spanish, we find hygienic food safety, and we find a profound culture of the body and health, which is why the raw food culture is particularly widespread. Florida (and the name says it all) is an Eden for fruit, close to the Caribbean, and the same goes for California, which is full of green vegan communities and is close to Mexico, a true cornucopia of green products. Unlike Australia, these places are more expensive, but we're really talking about the top in the raw food field.

Thailand

If Florida and California are too expensive, Thailand can do the job. This is an exception in the Indochinese panorama, where if it is true that we find an endless expanse of excellent vegetables, super-healthy and mostly unknown and an infinite number of tropical fruits, on the other hand hygienic conditions urge us to be wary of what we are served raw. In Thailand, perhaps because of their familiarity with the needs of tourists, it's easy to give yourself to the mad joy with raw food . Everyone speaks English, the prices are very affordable and fruits and vegetables can be found in every corner of the country. Next to the local cuisine we can find dishes based on mango and green papaya, kale, local green leafy herbs, absolute quality fruits such as durian, mangosteen, rambutan, mango, salak, dragon fruit. If this were not enough, in the north of the country you can live wonderful experiences in some green permaculture farms, always ready to accept visitors and volunteers.

Mediterranean Europe

With Europa Mediterranea means all the area that starts from the south of Portugal, which crosses Spain and the French Côte d'Azur, the whole of Italy (excluding the Alps ), passes through the Balkan coast and from Greece reaches Turkey, it is perhaps the largest area of ​​interest for raw foodists. The suitable climate, the quality of the soil and the variety of products choose this area as suitable for those who want to explore the world of raw food. It is true, there is the problem of language, in fact in this path we find at least a dozen of them, and the problem of the non-spread of raw food culture (there are good or bad less than a handful of themed events), but the variety and the amount of fruit and vegetables in this area is unique : citrus fruits, tomatoes, endless varieties of cabbage and green leafy vegetables, melons and watermelons, peaches, apricots, apples, pears, kiwi, plums, walnuts, pistachios, almonds and hazelnuts.
