Ginger and lemon, daily intake

Let us first of all make a proper premise: there are no magic products, not even natural ones, that work miracles in a few days. However, there are substances that can, in the long run, have beneficial effects on the health and well - being of our body.

Ginger root is an excellent remedy for nausea and a good help for the respiratory tract.

Lemon is "historically" known as an easy and ready source of vitamin C: however, do not add it to boiling drinks, since vitamin C degrades above about 45 degrees.

We can consume them individually or take advantage of the combined benefits of both in an aromatic, spicy and refreshing infusion .

But do we know how many to consume? Are ginger and lemon good if eaten daily?

Ginger: is it taken good daily?

Ginger root has beneficial properties due to its high anti-inflammatory, digestive and anti-nausea power.

If you want to take ginger daily, pay attention to :

> Do not exceed in doses: the massive use of ginger can in fact cause gastritis, ulcers and intestinal swellings;

> presence of gastrointestinal disorders: it is good to consult your doctor before taking it, the doctor will evaluate the possibility or not of taking it (starting however with small doses).

The maximum daily intake of ginger can be very subjective and can vary depending on the purpose to be obtained, the type of plant and the way it is taken (fresh or dry extract). Here are some examples:

> Dry extract : 0.5 to 4 grams per day;

> dried root : 30g up to 3 times a day.

In acute situations, such as in case of nausea, even from motion sickness (car sickness), it is recommended to take a single dose of 1-2 grams of dried rhizome powder, an hour before starting the journey.

Lemon: is it taken good daily?

Lemon is rich in vitamin C and has various functions: natural antioxidant, aid in the assimilation of iron and in digestion. However, it is worth taking its juice, always diluted in water (not boiling to avoid the degradation of vitamin C).

There are rare contraindications to lemon intake, except for allergies, sensitivity and personal taste. However, it is worth knowing about them, so pay attention to the daily intake of lemon in the event of:

> Problems with gingivitis, pyorrhea and damage to tooth enamel;

> severe hepatic sufficiency;

> chronic gastric hyperacidity.

As for the maximum daily intake of the lemon, unless otherwise indicated and sensitive, up to about 3 lemons can be taken per day, in the form of diluted juice, although in some cases there are suggestions for a higher number.

We remember, however, in addition to common sense, that the vitamins contained in the lemon have a maximum "ceiling" of daily intake and that it is good to fractionate the intake into three to four daily doses in order to guarantee a correct absorption, especially of vitamin C.

So, do ginger and lemon do good daily?

Without prejudice to individual sensitivities and different opinions from the attending physician, taking one or two cups a day of an infusion prepared with not boiling water with the juice of half a lemon and two slices of ginger root will be beneficial for our body: it will benefit if not other digestion and assimilation of iron if it is taken after meals.

It will be a great way to take a refreshing afternoon break or to get ready for sleep. It will also be a perfect excuse to drink a little for those who just can't eat the recommended 1.5 liter of water per day.
