Alkaline foods, what they are and which to avoid

Edited by Elena Longo, Nutritionist

Alkaline foods are those whose residues not metabolized by the body have a basic pH, such as fruit and all vegetables . A correct alkaline diet is able to preserve the health of the human body and keep it in balance. Let's find out better.

The pH of the tissues

The vital processes of the human body require a stable and slightly alkaline pH . When the pH of the tissues is constantly on acid values, it means that there has been an accumulation of acid toxins or a loss of basic elements (such as, for example, calcium and sodium).

Acidification of the biological soil is the cause, or contributing cause, of numerous symptoms and disorders (obesity and chronic-degenerative pathologies), reduces the efficiency of the immune system and promotes cellular aging.

Proper nutrition that involves the daily intake of alkalizing foods and the reduction of acidifying foods preserves the balance of the human body and health.

Causes of acidification of the biological soil

The causes of acidification of the biological soil are many, in particular:

  1. Excessive intake of acidifying foods
  2. Drugs.
  3. Lack of trace elements and vitamins.

The refined grains are particularly acidifying and must be replaced with “intact” cereals ( banished refined flours and products obtained by mixing bran with refined flours), animal proteins, sugars, alcohol, coffee, some types of tea, pre-cooked foods, foods high in pesticides and chemical additives.
