For gyrotonic or gyrotonic it is customary to understand a training methodology with different aims, ranging from the simple psycho-physical well-being of any subject up to the development of the physical potential of athletes and dancers. The term gyrotonic is composed of the word gyro which indicates the circularity of the movements made and the word tonic which underlines the dimension of vibration and tonality of the human body. From this it follows that a circular vibration produces a vibration of the body, a sound that is part of each of us. The name of the gyrotonic discipline was given by Juliu Horvath, a Hungarian dancer, in the early eighties.

How the gyrotonic works

The gyrotonic contains a series of exercises based on the principle of Intelligent Movement : with the minimum effort it is necessary to be able to produce the maximum force in our body. Through circular and well-calibrated movements, similar to those of classical dance and swimming, freedom of movement is conferred to the joints, allowing on the one hand to work more deeply on ligaments and muscle attacks, increasing the functional capacity of the whole apparatus locomotor and, at the same time, embracing the principles of oriental medicine, the main passages of the body's energy are reopened.

The gyrotonic trainer directs the subject towards a machine equipped with handles and weights ( pulley tower ) that act as resistance during the different exercises. Despite having much in common with Pilates, he works on more fluid and circular movements, on the breath to stimulate the nervous system and free up any psychophysical blocks. If Pilates works on two dimensions, the gyrotonic takes on a dimension of three-dimensional movement .

Thanks to this continuous flow of elliptical movements, synchronized with breathing, the gyrotonic is recommended in the prenatal period and in the post-natal recovery, to get the abdominal area back in shape and recover the elasticity of the back. In such a delicate moment of a woman's life, such an exercise allows a rapid psychophysical recovery as well as a strengthening of self-esteem. It is a method that is successfully adopted by physiotherapists even during some rehabilitation therapies. But what do you do to become a gyrotonic trainer?

Become a gyrotonic trainer

To become a gyrotonic trainer it is necessary to support a specific training, which is divided into a pre-training course, a foundation teacher course and an internship, at the end of which a certification is issued.

The purpose of pre-training is to physically prepare the aspiring gyrotonic trainer for the exercises that are subsequently treated in the foundation course. In addition, becoming a gyrotonic trainer means knowing perfectly the pulley tower and the terminology, often of Anglo-Saxon derivation. This phase usually lasts a week.

The foundation teacher course prepares the student, through verbal commands and manual guides, for the teaching of exercises dealt with in pre training and other teaching techniques. The foundation teacher course, lasting ten days, allows you to become a gyrotonic trainer, thanks to an apprenticeship certificate issued by Julio Hovath.

Once 60 hours of teaching / training have been reached, certification can be accessed. Once the supervision has been completed, the student obtains the signature of the master trainer who admits him to the final exam or "final certification". The total cost of training to become a gyrotonic trainer is around 2000 euros.
