World Water Day is celebrated on March 22nd. In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March as the first World Water Day, World Water Day, then proposing a different theme to celebrate each year: in 2015, the theme is Water and sustainable development .
As reported on the official website, the ongoing work and dedicated forums will focus on some key points:
> water is health (cleaning and washing your hands can save your life);
> water is nature (ecosystems are found in the heart of the global water cycle);
> water is urbanization (one million people move to the city every week);
> water is industry (more water is used in the processing of a car than to fill a swimming pool);
> water is energy (water and energy are inseparable friends);
> water is food (to produce two steaks you need 15 thousand liters of water);
> water is equality (every day women spend 200 million hours transporting water).
The Forum on the water
Every three years, starting in 1997, the World Water Council convenes a World Water Forum to gather contributions and discuss current local, regional and global problems, problems that cannot be solved without a framework agreement with common goals and strategies. The last took place in 2012 in Marseille and was attended by over 140 ministerial delegations and more than 180 countries represented, including Italy. The next meeting, or seventh, is scheduled this year in Daegu-Gyeongbuk in South Korea, from 12 to 17 April.

Italian initiatives for the day
Many collateral initiatives are spreading also in Italy for the Day dedicated to water. For example, there are some spa facilities that offer free trial inhalations ; or again, the Sanpellegrino group which organizes a series of recreational and recreational activities in Milan for children, with the aim of educating them to respectfully and consciously consume this precious asset; in Sardinia, Abbanoa organizes from March 21st to 22nd the “ Impianti opened 2015 ” event in collaboration with Legambiente. Guided tours of the best water purifiers will be organized throughout the island.

Last but not least, among the various partners of Aquae Venezia, a major international event entirely dedicated to water, scheduled in Venice from May to October 2015 in collaboration with Expo, there will be UN - World Water Assessment Program, the UNESCO program for the study of global issues related to water. On 22 and 23 May 2015, the results of the " World Water Resources Development Report ", presented by the UN - WWAP in New York on 20 March 2015, on the occasion of World Water Day will be discussed in the Venetian event.
Without forgetting another partner of Acquae Venezia, or Umberto Veronesi Foundation, which will realize "Pianeta Vita": a special cycle of three scientific events dedicated to water: "Water and Food Security. The role of Science in Food Security and Environmental Sustainability "(5-9 May 2015); "Food, Water and Health" (19-20 June 2015); "Water: Opportunities and Challenges for the future" (2-3 October 2015).
