Essential oils against indigestion

It often happens in winter, especially at Christmas time, to overdo the food . There are many convivial occasions in which one finds oneself in the family or with one's loved ones around a table laden with love and care. The winter then, with its cold days, invites you to consume more elaborate foods rich in fats and sugars. Sometimes, however, it exaggerates, and the body cannot properly metabolize what is exaggeratedly ingested, in quantity and quality.

Pharmacological remedies are often used which temporarily solve the problem, but leave the stomach and intestines weak.

After the binges, the digestion of even simple and poorly processed foods is compromised and slowed down. One has the feeling, at a certain point, of not being able to digest anything.

Difficult to prevent, to propose not to overdo it. It is difficult then not to want to solve the problem immediately.

There are many natural remedies that facilitate digestion.

Among these essential oils can be a valuable aid to stimulate the digestive process.

Essential oils for digestion

Some essential oils can be taken orally. Adults have no contraindications in this regard, except in cases of hypersensitivity or pregnancy. For children, however, oral essential oils must be avoided .

The essential oils that stimulate digestion are:

  • essential oil of fennel : useful in case of indigestion with nausea and vomiting. A drop is taken in a teaspoon of honey after meals. It allows the stimulation of gastric juices and accelerates digestion;

  • peppermint essential oil : peppermint essential oil is very strong and should be used with caution. In case of pharmacological or homeopathic treatment it should be absolutely avoided. If there were no direct problems due to the consumption of oils or peppermint, it can be taken, as for fennel oil, a drop in a teaspoon of honey to melt in the mouth. Its effect is rapid and useful in case of swelling and nausea.

Tips to avoid party binges

Blend of essential oils for digestion

After a binge you don't feel like hearing other flavors in your mouth. Often nausea, headache, heaviness and swelling make you want to stay as far away as possible from any type of food. Even a teaspoon of honey causes nausea and rejection.

In front of a hot drink one is more sympathetic. You can then take advantage of hot tea or chamomile by adding the following essential oils:

  • lemon essential oil: 3 drops

  • mint essential oil: 1 drop

  • ginger essential oil: 2 drops.

Two drops of this mixture are dissolved in a teaspoon of honey, mixed with herbal tea or tea (it is advisable to use a herbal tea with a neutral or very delicate taste, so as not to overload the already hyperstimulated papillae), and drink warm. The scent alone will help to clear the stomach.

WARNINGS : Do not administer essential oils to pregnant women and children .
