How to read the INCI of the tricks

What is INCI

INCI is the international classification of cosmetic ingredients (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) contained in a specific product.

The law establishes that every cosmetic carries the list of ingredients .

Reading an INCI may seem very difficult, but it is important to know what we spread on the skin, since many substances pass from the epidermis to the bloodstream, and therefore to the organs.

How to read the INCI of the tricks

The list of ingredients is drawn up in decreasing order of quantity: at the first places the ingredients in higher percentage, the last ones in smaller quantities.

  1. P arabens : they end with the suffix -paraben (for example: benzyl-paraben, butyl-paraben, isobutyl-paraben, methyl-paraben, propyl-paraben, isopropyl-paraben, etc.). They are included in the tricks to preserve them over time. The dangerousness of the parabens consists in the interaction that they operate with some glands, in particular in the production of estrogens. Studies have shown that parabens may be responsible for the formation of breast tumors. If a trick contains more parabens at the top of the INCI it is certainly better not to buy it;

  2. Butylhydroxyanisole, or BHA or E320, means that the product contains this antioxidant compound that can release carcinogenic metabilites. It is often associated with another compound identified with the acronym BHT, equally harmful;

  3. PEG, also referred to as Polyethylene glycols : PEGs are chemical compounds, usually followed by a number . The number indicates the moles of ethylene oxide bound to the main compound. The oxide and ethylene dioxide are carcinogenic: it is therefore better to avoid tricks whose INCI lists at the top of the PEG with a high number;

  4. Formaldehyde extras : formaldehyde has been declared a carcinogen for many years, yet it still exists in percentages, albeit minimal, in some tricks, especially in nail polishes and in the products used in cosmetic nail care. There are also compounds that act as formaldehyde inhibitors, more often present in the INCI, which are not formaldehyde but can release it once decomposed. The formaldehyde carriers can be recognized by the suffix -urea, -methane and -methyl ;

  5. At mines or amino-derivatives: they are identified with the initials DEA, TEA and MEA, or they have suffix -amine . They are derived from coconut oil, so it is important to note if this ingredient is also present and the processing it has undergone. Amines can lead to the formation of nitrosamines, substances that are declared carcinogenic;

  6. T riclosan : triclosan is present mainly in tricks for comedonic skin or with acne problems. The degree of toxicity of triclosan is equal to that of dioxin. Cosmetics containing them, although widespread and legally marketed, should be avoided;

  7. Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate, also referred to as SLS and SLES : these substances are oil-derived surfactants. In addition to being highly polluting and being tested on animals in almost all cases, these compounds that may be present in the INCI of many tricks have a highly irritating effect on the skin and mucous membranes;

  8. Petrolates and silicones : these substances have film-forming properties, they make the creams uniform (dyed undercoat, BB and CC creams, concealers, matting creams and the like), preventing the skin from breathing and hindering the natural exchange between outside and inside. This damages and ages the epidermis and, in cases where petrolatum and silicones derive from inaccurate refining processes, toxic residues can contribute to the formation of skin tumors. The most used slurry are paraffin, microcrystalline c , vaseline, mineral oils, while silicones end with -thicon and, -one, -ane, -siloxan and o -silanol .

Meditate and love: what connection?

What the body needs is to relax. What two bodies need is to communicate . If this happens in a climate of serene exploration, there are great possibilities to live love not as a war but as an evolutionary possibility and an opportunity to try to keep a joyful mind . It is not for everyone - or rather, everyone has the possibility but many do not want to "embark" - and unfortunately this fuse to progress, to evolution can take in only one of the two partners or in both but in different phases, little coincident...

Goji, the long-lived berries

The goji berries are the fruits of a spontaneous shrub of Tibetan origin, whose scientific name is Lycium Barbarum , and constitute one of the cornerstones of Tibetan medicine, and of the Asian territory in general, whose multiple properties are all in favor of well-being. Known as the " fruit of longevity ", these small red drupes have unique health effects for our body, due to the presence of antioxidant substances (equal to 4000 times that of orange and vitamin C for 500 times) especially vitamins , minerals, carotenoids and polysaccharides with adaptogenic activity, protective and...
