Cervical: symptoms and causes
The cervical is a painful disorder of the neck tract, corresponding to the cervical vertebrae. It can have different causes :
> traumas, such as whiplash, muscle tears resulting in stiffening of the neck, falls, accidents;
> prolonged incorrect postures, due to excessive time spent sitting or standing, or moving too heavy loads;
> hernias and crushing of the intervertebral discs of the cervical tract;
> general problems in the back and legs : the entire bone system is connected, so it is likely that the cause of cervical pain is attributable to problems in other parts of the back or legs;
> cervical arthrosis : cervical arthrosis is a deformation of the cartilages that cover the joints between the bones. Its origin may be one or more of the causes described above, continued for so long to cause permanent deformation.
The symptoms mainly concern the affected tract, therefore the neck, but the pain also radiates to the head, with a sense of nausea or dizziness, and to the shoulders, as well as to the rest of the spine .
Often, as a result of the pain that manifests itself, muscular and skeletal compensation systems are instinctively implemented, both during movement and at rest. These can also negatively affect the joints of the legs, arms and internal organs.
Natural remedies to treat the cervical
The following natural remedies can be used to relieve pain :
> essential oils : the essential oils can decrease the consequent muscular tension and therefore dissolve the stiffness that further worsens the posture, with direct relapses on the cervical bone tract and on the consequent cervical arthrosis;
> dried packs of cherry seeds, inserted in special pillows and heated, or coarse salt or fenugreek: they are applied on the cervical tract and allow to calm the pain and increase the mobility of the neck;
> creams based on mountain arnica or devil's claw : muscle relaxants, allow you to relieve tension and pain;
> massages : massages, as well as treatments carried out by physiotherapists or osteopaths, can rebalance muscle disorders, as well as relax and lengthen the parties involved. Furthermore, they help re-educate correct posture and correct movement of the affected joint.
Physiotherapists, kinesiologists and osteopaths can also suggest daily exercises that can prevent pain and manage it if it has already arisen. In summary, a good postural education, a strengthening of the muscles and therefore a constant work of prevention are the best remedies for cervical pain and cervical arthrosis;
> gymnastics and movement of the area : in times of acute pain, the area that hurts is left as still as possible. Sometimes this can be a mistake, because immobility worsens the conditions that led to the pain itself, causing it to increase.
In the case of cervical pain, also due to cervical arthrosis, it is necessary to let the moment of greatest discomfort pass, and then act immediately after moving the joint. By doing so, the muscles that must support the compromised joint are strengthened and the situation is prevented from getting worse.
