Buriti oil, properties and use



The oil from the fruit of Mauritia Flexuosa comes from Brazil, a plant otherwise known as buriti, similar to a large palm tree, up to 40 meters high, originating from the Amazon forest.

The vegetable oil of buriti is obtained by extraction from the dark red fruit tending to brown and is of a reddish color.

The local populations use it for various discoveries, also preserving their leaves, trunks and bark to make bags, hats, baskets, even buildings. The precious fruits are also used for the preparation of jams and wine .

The orange flesh of the much-loved fruit has been and was used for a long time to protect the skin from burns, so that the soothing and regenerating properties of buriti oil were already well known.

Today it is widely used as a special ingredient in soaps, skin and hair creams and various cosmetic products.

Properties of buriti oil

Conditioner, elasticising, anti-aging: with a high concentration of carotenoids, vitamin E and vitamin A, buriti oil protects and nourishes skin and hair, both from aging, as it restrains the action of free radicals, and from the harmful rays of the sun.

It is an oil with a profound emollient power, which enriches the skin, promotes cell renewal and keeps it always hydrated, perfect therefore also for those who want to prolong their tan .

Use of buriti oil

It is used pure, but it is generally better and it is absolutely recommended to dilute it in a carrier oil, such as sweet almond oil or sesame oil or jojoba oil, because it contains a high concentration of vitamin A.

Tip : it is ideal to try it and buy it pure and natural, obtained from cold pressing, without any chemical treatment and respectful of work and local workers.

A 100ml pack costs about 20 euros, pure is easily found online, today much more difficult in herbalist's shops or organic shops.

Use of buriti oil on the skin

Used on dull and lifeless skin, it rehydrates and gives brightness. On a tablespoon of carrier oil, add a teaspoon of buriti oil, mix and thoroughly massage the moistened skin to facilitate absorption.

Used on dull, colored hair, exposed to the sun or to aggressions such as pollution or chlorine in the pool, it rehydrates them, making them shiny and shiny.

It is used together with other oils, but you can also use a few drops of pure oil to massage well on the tips and then spread it on the lengths; leave it to rest for about twenty minutes and proceed with the shampoo: used as a natural mask it will give you a surprising brilliance.
