Mind and body in relation: a "bioenergetic" look

Body and Body . Often these two words are associated almost as if to create a paradigm of our day, we witness, in fact, the proliferation of activities that turn to wellness, sometimes recognized (even erroneously) as activities carried out in mass in the most disparate or purely gymnastic places and busy operators in relaxation , relaxation and "care" services.

All this to respond to a need, existing in our society, of seeking pleasure, discharge and often in the illusion that if the body relaxes (or becomes stressed with a myriad of activities) the mind will benefit from it and well-being will be produced.

It is important to make a very small distinction. In this circle, mind and body revolve not only many activities and therefore various operators that deal with it at different levels but there are very different definitions and purposes given, for example, by the scientific training path that distinguishes the professional and clinician with proposed paths to the user in a suitable place and which are part of a search for a relationship between the mind and the body, as the very purpose of that path which can therefore also be a "cure" because it allows the person to feel, recognize and express himself.

What, then, can a person who intends to carry out an activity for himself, for the mind and the body, with a professional find? Meaning here those who deal with body therapies both as psychotherapists or psychologists expert in psycho-physiology or related integrated approaches. Essentially it is about integration .

The user can arrive, followed in a path, to integrate the different parts of his body with his own mind, since the exercises he has probably dealt with will also touch on aspects of his own body image and again, integration so that the mind and the body are perceived by the subject himself. as something that is in communication and relationship in which to favor unity and rapprochement, not separation.

Activities that respond in a practical and professional way are different, from Art therapy (including theater, dance ...) and expressive activities, to others that focus on movement and relaxation, often present even in the aforementioned activities, such as Autogenic Training or Bioenergetics .

The latter, for example, finds in the relationship between body, mind, energy processes, emotions, the key to restoring psycho-physical well-being: from the perception of tension to liberation.

For bioenergetics (from Reich to Lowen) the body and mind have the same process, what happens in the mind is poured on the body and vice versa. Body and mind, influencing each other over the years, give life to armor in which there would be trapped emotions that were never expressed or expressed in a small way, influencing postures, habits, forming attitudes and characters.

In fact, stress produces tension by generating muscular stiffening of external or internal organs. Releasing tensions, even muscular, means going to touch those unresolved conflicts and needing liberation. Energy, since the person's energy flow is considered, if he is in a state of depression or great fatigue, he will probably be weak and weak, so the energy resource will have to be restored.

If there is too much euphoria and aggression, the energy charge will have to be addressed in a functional way. In practice, a journey is also made of moments of real exercises. For relaxation, a fundamental aspect of bioenergetics is breathing and the quality of breathing, recognized as a wave that crosses the body. The work of dissolving tensions is created by polarities or by movement, for example, blocking and releasing a movement.

This is combined with special exercises of energetic vibration that awaken every part of the body. In essence, when we vibrate we are alive, that is due to emotions of fear, anger, love, energy and vibrations are triggered. This also responds to integration, users report feeling integrated with the mind when they feel their body vibrate.

Finally, it is important to remember that bioenergetic therapy is the bioenergetic analysis (psychotherapy) and unlike a bioenergetic path described so far with the psychologist, it goes deeper into the psychotherapeutic and unconscious sense of the dynamics that have generated blockages and inhibitions.

Bioenergetics can therefore help the person to reconnect with their ability to feel alive, experience joy and pain by managing strong emotions better and finding their relationship between mind and body.
