Watermelon helps us to fight the heat

Watermelon is the typical fruit of the summer, it helps us to fight the heat, to regularize sweating and above all it helps us replenish all the lost minerals. The watermelon is 95% water, contains vitamin A, C and B6, contains good amounts of magnesium and potassium and let's not forget that it is very rich in lycopene, this carotenoid has powerful antioxidant properties and is responsible for bright red color typical of watermelon. This fruit has very few calories, it helps us eliminate excess toxins, being rich in water it is very diuretic, it also plays a fundamental role in the drainage of liver and kidneys. It is precisely in this period, that temperatures reach high peaks, it is important to pay attention to food, we must use light and easily digestible foods, to avoid straining the body.

Watermelon is just what you need, it is thirst-quenching, low-calorie, rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber, these last essential for regular intestinal drainage. Vitamin B6 is useful for protecting and brightening our hair, strengthening muscles and protecting our eyes. Lycopene is one of the most important anticancer substances and the watermelon is very rich, I also remind you that lycopene protects us from diseases affecting the respiratory system, so people who smoke or who constantly inhale harmful substances should consume daily 'watermelon.

And to better assimilate all its nutrients we associate it with some vegetable fats.

The vitamins present in the watermelon and lycopene are all LIPO-SOLUBLE substances, so it would be advisable to always combine it with a small percentage of fat, preferably of vegetable origin, in this way we will favor the assimilation of all its active ingredients. To give some examples, we can add a slice of diced watermelon to a beautiful salad dressed with a drizzle of olive oil and lemon, or we can eat it as a snack combined with some almond or some walnut kernel, in fact we know that oilseeds are very rich in fatty acids, so in this case they help us to absorb all the nutrients. Finally for children, we can prepare delicious watermelon popsicles, blending two slices of ripe watermelon, two tablespoons of almond milk, rich in fatty acids and a tablespoon of cane sugar, after having deposited all the mixture in the appropriate molds for popsicles and left in the freezer for five or six hours, we can enjoy them as a snack, fresh and nutritious, as an alternative to the usual packed snacks.
