Moringa oleifera and asthma

Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the respiratory tract following the action of allergens, causing an obstruction that makes normal respiratory activity difficult.

Asthma manifests itself with frequent episodes of wheezing, dyspnea, chest tightness and coughing . Symptoms may appear as isolated episodes in relation to causative agents or appear as a persistent condition, with a tendency to worsen at night and during the early morning hours.

A study conducted in India has studied the efficacy of Moringa oleifera seeds in the treatment of bronchial asthma : patients of both sexes, suffering from mild or moderate asthma, were subjected to the administration of powdered Moringa seeds for the duration three weeks. Clinical efficacy with respect to respiratory symptoms and function was observed and evaluated using a spirometer before and after treatment to make a comparison.

Most patients showed an increase in hemoglobin (Hb) values and the erythrocyte sedimentation rate decreased. Symptoms and severity of asthmatic attacks have been reduced, improving the physical condition of the patients.

Ultimately it was therefore observed that the three-week treatment with Moringa oleifera resulted in a significant improvement in respiratory capacity in asthmatic subjects. Furthermore, none of the patients showed negative reactions to Moringa, which makes it a solution within everyone's reach, exponentially increasing their effectiveness.

Expanding the spectrum of influence of Moringa, we can say that its beneficial effects apply to most of the pathologies involving the upper airways, in particular when combined with Eucalyptus, which with its expectorant function favors the fluidity of secretions bronchial in the presence of sore throat and cold .
