The contraindications of lactic ferments



There are no contraindications for lactic ferments, as they are microorganisms already present in our bacterial flora and therefore do not cause any side effects, but on the contrary, they only bring benefits .

The administration of live milk enzymes is in fact indicated to strengthen the immune defenses, promote the assimilation of precious nutrients and cure constipation, and diarrhea in newborns, children and adults.

Lactic ferments are able to enhance the immune system's response to infections ; improve the digestive process or fight constipation, diarrhea, gastrointestinal complications of influenza and abdominal bloating; all this because lactic ferments act on the intestine, improving its functionality.

The balance of the intestinal bacterial flora allows a faster response of the immune system towards the hiatal hernia, migration of a portion of the stomach into the thoracic cavity through the esophageal hiatus, aphthous stomatitis, infections of the urogenital system (candida and cystitis), traveler's diarrhea, gum and dental diseases.

Ferments can be used with benefit as an adjuvant of pharmacological therapies both in strengthening the antibiotic activity of drugs, and in protecting the intestine from their side effects.

How to choose lactic ferments: contraindications

In the selection of lactic ferments the contraindications are represented by the presence of lactose in case of food intolerance to milk and dairy products . On the market there are several formulations based on probiotics without lactose and with prebiotic substances that "feed" these microorganisms.

They are presented in sachets, capsules and ampoules : in each preparation there are generally different bacterial strains which differ substantially in the need for administration.

However, not all lactic acid bacteria are able to actually reach the intestine because it is difficult to cross the stomach barrier, due to the high content of hydrochloric acid; but, once the intestine is reached, even if few, I am able to multiply exponentially.

For this reason it is important at the time of purchase to consider their quantity (the number of bacterial strains contained in the formulation, at least 5 billion) and the quality (whether there are strains already present in the human intestinal flora and due to the presence or not of the group B vitamins).

How to keep them: contraindications

Other contraindications for lactic ferments consist in their preservation. Since these are live microorganisms sensitive to heat ( thermosensitive ) and to sudden changes in temperature, they should be kept in a cool, dry place; while in summer it is best to keep them in the refrigerator between 2 ° and 10 ° C: in this environment the lactic ferments do not deteriorate and continue to live and proliferate maintaining their function and their effectiveness unchanged.

For the same reason it is not recommended to take them with hot food and drinks . It is also necessary to check the expiration date marked on the packaging, because, their life has a certain duration, after which they die and become ineffective .
