Yerba Mate, a weight loss aid?

Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay are the chosen lands of Yerba Mate or Erva Mate and for native populations it is a traditional drink, to be consumed daily.

They also call it "green gold", and they are green and toasted leaves and petioles to be prepared in infusion just like a tea.

The original recipe was handed down by the Guarani Indians who prepared a drink to taste both hot and cold, strictly using very pure Mate leaves left to soak in hot water for about 30 minutes or alternatively in cold water and pressed.

Yerba Mate and beneficial effects

Yerba Mate is an important source of caffeine, which is why it is introduced into the food of the peoples of South America.

Equivalent to our drinking a coffee or tea during the day. It also provides a supply of vitamin C, B1, B2 and polyphenols that support the immune system and some essential mineral salts such as calcium, iron and phosphorus.

The Yerba Mate stimulates the metabolism, accelerating its rhythms. The gastrointestinal system benefits, as digestion is toned and the assimilation processes of the intestine accelerate.

In this way two important results are obtained: a weighty weight loss and an "injection of energizing charge" ; in fact, its caffeine content, although lower than that of coffee, has a slow release and therefore its effect lasts longer.

The so professed slimming action is therefore not effective, but a consequence of metabolic acceleration, so the intake of Yerba Mate must be done following certain precautions and in certain cases under medical supervision.

Contraindications of Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate may have some side effects and contraindications. In fact, it is not recommended for anxious and heart patients, as excessive use could cause palpitations, insomnia, breathing difficulties.

Its strong energizing charge can in fact create some easily resolved disturbance by interrupting the intake.

In any case it is always better to consult your doctor when you want to resort to remedies that act on the metabolism.
