Why meditate
The reasons for meditating are numerous: it is an act of loving interest in oneself. Meditating means observing oneself and observing oneself, coming to know oneself profoundly.
Meditating helps reduce stress levels, depression, anxiety and various neuroses. A well performed and constant meditation is useful both to the mind, to the emotions and to the body . There are now many health facilities that include meditation programs and courses for their patients.
One can approach self-taught meditation . But if you have already taken this path and you want to investigate more deeply both meditation as a practice and discipline and your inner life, you can find many centers throughout Italy where you can practice meditation, even from a more strictly spiritual point of view.
Where to meditate in Italy
There are many meditation techniques . The most authoritative schools have been operating in the area for many years, offering suitable programs and places dedicated to a deep meditation, especially linked to its spiritual root.
> the Ananda center is a community (shanga) that teaches yoga and organizes spiritual meditation retreats. The headquarters is in central Italy, but they plan events in various parts of the peninsula;
> Pian dei Ciliegi is a place where Buddhist meditation and vipassana are practiced. The association is based in the Piacenza hills and holds intensive meditation retreats ranging from 2 days to the week;
> the Rigpa Italia center is one of the historic centers of meditation and Buddhist culture in Italy, also visited by the Dalai Lama in 2008. the offices are located in Bologna, Turin, Elba Island, Rome and Bolzano;
> the center of meditation and conscious life Avalokita is located in southern Italy and is inspired by the teaching of Thich Nhat Hanh and his Plum Village. The community offers meditation retreats of Buddhist spiritual imprint;
> Santacittarama is a monastery in the center of Lazio, which divulges the Buddhist teachings and the practice of meditation, often collaborating also with other realities, such as Pian dei Ciliegi;
> the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute is located near Pisa. Also in this case it is a Buddhist meditation. The center is open to all, in respect of the basic rules that are the basis of the kindness and compassion they teach together with meditation;
> for those who are interested in learning and practicing meditation in its most modern and immediate exception, which takes the name of mindfulness, the Lumen association organizes courses both in its own location in the ecovillage between Piacenza and Cremona, and in the city of Milan, Parma and Cremona.
