We discover the seventh chakra: Sahasrara

Sahasrara is the seventh chakra, which connects us with universal energy: through it it is possible to reach the Light of knowledge and awareness of one's being, of serenity and perception of Unity in the Whole.

Sahasrara : color and shape of the chakra

The color associated with Sahasrara is white, which contains all the colors. The chakra is located at the top of the head and is not related to any physical sense.

The corresponding organ is the pineal gland or epiphysis.

Meaning of the chakra

Sahasrara in Sanskrit means "of a thousand petals": it is in fact represented as a shining lotus flower with a thousand petals, on which are written all the letters of the Sanskrit alphabet repeated twenty times.

The main functions of the seventh chakra are understanding, transcendence, thought and spiritual will .

The associated keyword is IO SO .

Sahasrara represents the arrival point of the journey undertaken starting from Muladhara, which connects the human being from Mother Earth to the divine . According to the principle of the hermeticism "What is below is like what is above", similarly the lower six chakras are all reflected in the seventh, also called "crown chakra".

The seventh chakra is related to the source of pure and universal energy and corresponds to the understanding of the mysteries of birth and death: in it lies the channel of Illumination, Truth and Realization, a clear current that cleans in depth and brings out wisdom, compassion and life force.

With the energy of Sahasrara we are thus able to start from an objective knowledge and arrive at a transcendental knowledge : while the depth of understanding increases, the need for representation decreases, from observation we become the observation itself and transform ourselves into pure thought .

When the seventh chakra is balanced, we reach the highest level of consciousness, we are able to transcend the dualism and separation between internal and external, microcosm and macrocosm and to let things happen through us.

Balancing of the Sahasrara chakra

The disharmonious functioning of Sahasrara can lead to headaches, mental confusion, phobias and psychoses of various kinds, but there are no specific pathologies related to this energy center, which can be more or less developed in relation to the spiritual path of the individual. The energy it processes is intense and powerful and has effects on all the tissues and functions of the body.

In the event of closure or insufficient functioning, from the psychological point of view one can find attachment to earthly things, rigidity, dissatisfaction and superficiality. The individual is disconnected from the perception of eternal existence and the power of life and will fear death as the nothing and the end. Above all, he will feel that he does not have the right to know, learn and evolve, remaining separate from the Whole and Unity.

How to rebalance Sahasrara

To develop and rebalance the seventh chakra there are no simple solutions, but it starts from a profound choice: you can start taking a first contact with your own spirituality in many ways, for example with a meditation enhanced by rock crystals (stone par excellence for this chakra), which can be held in the hand or arranged in a circle around the body, with the points pointing towards the center. Drain and rinse the stones under cold water after use.

The stones related to the seventh chakra are: amethyst, transparent calcite, rock crystal, diamond, fluorite, labradorite, moldavite, moonstone.

There are also sounds combined with the chakras that can also be used as an accompaniment for meditation and / or to perform a delicate massage and circulate clockwise (on the head) with 20 ml of sesame oil and a few drops of specific essential oils for the seventh chakras.

The essential oils related to the seventh chakra are:

  • incense essential oil,
  • myrrh essential oil,
  • essential oil of vetiver.

Chromotherapy, ayurvedic massage (especially Keralan pranico) and some yoga or tai chi chuan techniques are also excellent.

Finally, there are specific exercises to bring the chakras back into balance; these are movements codified in ancient times known as the 5 Tibetans, intrinsically linked to the chakra doctrine.
