Festival of the East 2011: what, where, when

Holistic and bionatural disciplines, yoga, ayurvedic medicine, bach flowers, theta healing, meditation, vegan space, reiki, massages, chi kung (qi gong), tai chi chuan, shiatsu, tui-na, bio music, rebirthing, postural integration, rolfing and many others. All this is the Festival of the Orient 2011.

Many associations that promote the respective traditions of India, China, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Tibet. And the fascinating novelties of this edition: Morocco, Egypt, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Nepal, Burma and South Korea.

From 27 to 30 October 2011 the large Carrara fairgrounds will host referees, carers, judges, guests, interns, visitors, seminarians, wellness sector operators and, of course, visitors. Numerous commercial stands and competition areas, 8000 square meters of tatami used. 17 embassies, 8 sports promotion bodies, 50 national federations, 28 international federations and 7 CONI federations.

A splendor of an event for those who love martial arts, or rather, the arts, in general, and the philosophy that permeates them.

Any tips on the program? You can watch Taiko, the Japanese drums concert, at Butoh, the Japanese dance of truth and poetry, a Nepalese-derived theatrical performance of Yoga, conceived, curated and represented by the Shambhala Yoga institute. In addition, Indian spiritual dances and songs, Japanese and Chinese opera, Thai dance and the spectacle of a snake charmer. Not only: mandala construction, kimono dressing, Vedic and Tibetan theater . And if with all this movement you were to go hungry, this year the Festival of the East has prepared an immense restaurant area with a wide choice of typical dishes of the oriental tradition. They thus peep out among the now known Indian Chinese and Thai Japanese dishes also dishes from true exotic flavor from countries unknown to most from the gastronomic point of view and that deserve instead of being discovered.

Festival of the East 2011: why?

The first edition of the Festival of the Orient was a great success and we have seen first-hand the potential of this event. Why go? If the reasons mentioned above were not enough for you, we will go over others.

Ceremonies, symbolic statues, forms with arms and not, calligraphy, dances, ritual demonstrations, body painting, Tibetan bells, fans, body oils, lectures, objects, plants, incense, massages, uniforms, tea and herbal teas, belts, flags, anatomical maps of different medical traditions; all this takes place under the eyes of the observers who can interact with those who live these ritual forms daily.

As if the soul were to bathe in the symbolic ways that come from distant traditions. Traditions to approach with respect, devotion and to discover, perhaps, new forms of passion towards which to strive.
