Ayurvedic medicine
Ayurvedic medicine is a complex medical system that includes prevention and treatment aspects aimed at lengthening and improving the life of the human being in harmony with nature. Traces of Ayurvedic medicine and its mythological origins can be found in Indian texts of more than five thousand years ago, but the testimonies become more consistent around 1500 BC
Nowadays, a large percentage of Indians have recourse, or even recourse to, this medical current that has gained not a few followers even in other parts of the world.
Ayurvedic medicine is currently listed by the European Union as a non-conventional medicine whose provision is allowed only by qualified doctors. In Europe, there are qualified centers including the one in Bournemouth in the South of England, the Medical Center in London, and others in the Netherlands, Germany and Spain. The largest European ayurvedic center is located in the Netherlands, where there is the Maharishi Vedic University which organizes courses to become ayurveda doctors. But what is the situation of Ayurveda in Italy?
Ayurveda in Italy
The situation of Ayurveda in Italy is quite static and finding information about it is complex. Many are wondering about the legislative reality of Ayurveda in Italy, whether something has already been recognized and which laws regulate activities. Well, at present, there is still no formalization of Ayurveda by State Bodies, except for some regional attempts, such as those introduced in Piedmont.
Generally speaking, a draft law on the regulation of unconventional medicines was introduced, some years ago, among which the practice of Ayurveda was included. The aforementioned bill is the DDL No. 447 . At the moment, there is no formalization.
In contrast to the static nature of the legislation, there is a dense undergrowth of activities: Ayurvedic associations, centers, training schools, Ayurveda seminars and conferences, translations of Ayurveda books, ayurveda centers and everything that revolves around this discipline.
It is also true that, for now, in Italy there are no certified Ayurveda centers, but a lot of information can be collected on various Ayurvedic portals. Ayurveda Italy offers a map of national Ayurvedic operators. But remember that to become an ayurveda doctor you need a degree in conventional medicine and then a diploma in ayurvedic medicine that can be obtained in England or India after 4 years of study. In India, registration is also provided for the Ayurvedic Council.
