The dissociated diet: example and recipes

By dissociated diet we usually mean a diet that includes protein in one meal and carbohydrates in the other meal. Let's start from a premise, however: in nature, the only food containing only one type of nutrient is oil . Composed only of fats, it is the "dissociated DOC".

Since, apart from oil, the "dissociated DOC" does not exist, because even in pasta there are proteins, let's try to understand better what the dissociated diet is, with an example of menu and recipes .

The dissociated diet: what is it?

The dissociated diet (also known as the Hay diet or "food combining" ) was born in 1911, from the mind of Dr. Hay, in the United States. The doctor did not formulate it for his patients, but for himself, as suffering from a kidney disease . With his new food style he managed to achieve significant improvements in just three months.

The basic principle of the dissociated diet is that the digestion of different foods involves different chemical processes and cannot take place at the same time, on pain of several intestinal and gastric difficulties .

In fact, according to Hay, the digestion of carbohydrates takes place in a basic environment, that of proteins in an acid environment, and cannot take place at the same time.

They must spend at least 4-5 hours between one meal and the next, so as not to overlap different digestive processes. We must also avoid consuming different proteins at the same meal (not meat and cheese, for example) and different carbohydrates (not pasta and bread together), favor whole grains and consume large portions of fruit and vegetables, with a detoxifying action for the body.

No tortellini, no pizza, no lasagna, no pasta with meat sauce.

Here is an example of foods with basic (or alkaline) digestion according to Hay: bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, baked desserts, honey, chocolate, legumes, bananas, chestnuts, dried fruit, cabbage.

Among the foods with acid digestion, not to be consumed at the same time as those seen above, we find: meat (white and red, sausages and salami), milk and dairy products (including yogurt), fruit (apples, pears, apricots, rules, peaches, strawberries, Kiwi).

Better to eat fruit away from meals and carbohydrates in the early part of the day (by the afternoon). The ideal meal consists of a single dish with vegetables.

The dissociated diet is born with a detoxifying and non-slimming purpose, so if you want to lose weight following this dietary style, you need to contain the portions.
