Prostatitis, natural homeopathic remedies

By Dr. Francesco Candeloro

Prostatitis is an inflammation of the prostate that can depend on bacterial infections, intestinal dysfunction, irregular nutrition, stress, a sedentary lifestyle and hemorrhoids. Let's find homeopathic remedies to cure it.

Causes and symptoms of prostatitis

The prostate is a chestnut-shaped gland found beneath the bladder in the male. It produces a liquid that has antibacterial properties and increases the degree of motility, in addition to the resistance, therefore, of the spermatozoa.

The most common condition affecting the prostate, and which affects all men, of course, is the progressive enlargement of its size, known as prostatic hypertrophy .

However, its infection / inflammation is not infrequent, which produces a rather annoying and often persistent picture of prostatitis, of which we recognize:

  • simple congestion, mostly unnoticed;
  • acute infection of bacterial origin;
  • chronic infection of both bacterial and abacteric origin.

The prostate, in its peripheral or mantleum portion, can also suffer from neoplastic diseases, very common - and therefore completely harmless - in the autopsy findings of particularly long-lived men, but in some cases even aggressive and metastasizing.

Acute prostatitis of bacterial origin is often caused by micro-organisms that normally inhabit the intestine, and that can reach the prostate via the ascending urethra. The acute infection is manifested by general malaise, chills and hyperthermia, and is accompanied by urinary symptoms including difficulty or burning sensation during urination, an urgent need to urinate, and a typical feeling of heaviness in the pelvic and / or perianal area. Some particularly aggressive forms also cause the appearance of blood in the urine.

The traditional medical treatment consists in the early administration of antibiotics, sometimes preceded by the performance of a urine culture, this to prevent possible complications that consist in the involvement, by the infection, of neighboring structures such as the testicles (orchitis) and the epididymis (epididymitis).

Antibiotic treatment in these cases must be continued beyond the usual terms, since the prostate is poorly vascularized and this does not allow the drugs to reach an adequate concentration in the site of infection. Failure to completely eradicate the germs responsible for the infection can result in the onset of chronic prostatitis, which manifests itself in intermittent local pains, occasional burning sensations during urination, or even heaviness in the pelvic or perianal area. In this form, antibiotic therapy, often in cycles, can last up to several months, and not always associated with complete remission of symptoms.

Possible long-term complication of these forms, which for this reason must be treated and resolved, is the appearance of erection deficiency, or infertility . However, there are also forms of chronic abactic prostatitis, that is not supported by detectable micro-organisms, which are often found in people who engage the pelvic part with excessive efforts or loads, even sports. These forms, in traditional practice, are even more difficult to treat, because it is not possible to identify bacteria or other agents responsible for the disorders.

Homeopathic remedies against prostatitis

Prostatitis, as well as other disorders already treated in this space, lends itself to a different treatment depending on whether the disorders arise acutely or tend to become chronic over time .

In any case it is good to remember that, in the choice of the remedy, in acute, homeopathy takes into account only marginally the possible germ responsible for the disease, because it considers the first cause of the onset of diseases, even supported by bacteria or viruses, the rupture of a subtle balance of the whole organism, caused by the most disparate situations (excessive libations, unusual pelvic strains, emotional or physical surmenage, harassment, withholding anger, exposure to sources of refrigeration, etc.).

The choice of the remedy based on each of these different motivations always causes a marked improvement in the symptoms, even in the absence of a direct therapy on a specific microorganism, also appropriately identified.

In the absence of an obvious motivation, however, the best guide to the administration of the remedy will be given by the local symptoms of burning urination ( Cantharis ) of frequent but reduced urination ( Mercurius ), of a sense of local heaviness ( Sepia ), of burning that cease at the beginning of urination ( Staphysagrya ).

In the chronic forms then, just for the speech just made, and the general observation of the patient, homeopathy will be able to cause the remission of symptoms where traditional therapies will fail, since they are always directed to the care of personal - emotional and character - but also neighboring to the gland (congestion of the hepatic and intestinal circulation, alterations of posture and vertebral statics) which are often the authentic responsible for these pictures.
