We all know when physical exercise is good for our body and mind, yet there are social categories for which playing sports can be complicated, whether for health reasons or for lack of motivation.
We must not forget a large slice of people who do not like places dedicated to movement (gyms or swimming pools) or do not feel similar to the classical methods through which they are commonly conveyed.
Whether they are real problems or simple excuses, the fact is that they keep many people from starting a non-sedentary and therefore healthier life. Is there a trick for all those who, although more demanding, are sincerely willing to walk the path of health? Apparently yes, and yoga can come to their rescue.
Yoga, all health for the heart
There are a whole series of motivations, perhaps apparently spicciole, which make yoga a friend of the social category outlined in the introduction: first of all, this discipline meets all those who tolerate gyms because it is generally practiced also in cultural associations and centers specific.
It can take place indoors or outdoors and there are so many variations and so different from each other that, from the most dynamic to the most meditative, everyone will find the declination that responds more exactly to their own psychophysical needs.
It is also a very modulable activity, therefore it can be practiced as much by sportsmen as by the elderly, by the most trained people and by those who have not actively moved for years.
Beyond this, far more important factors encourage us to undertake yoga: in fact it can contribute to the prevention of cardiovascular diseases in a way comparable to that of more traditional activities such as brisk walking or cycling.

The study of the link between yoga and heart wellness
A publication in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology, signed by a team of Dutch and American scholars, the fruit of a consistent work of revision of previous research, has compared both yoga practitioners with sportsmen and yogis and sedentary people.
Especially compared to the latter, the results were particularly interesting in terms of reduction of body mass, lowering of blood pressure, regularity of heart rate . In simple terms, the practice has effects comparable to those of a traditional aerobic discipline.
Scientists do not deny the existence of unlighted shadow cones: fundamentally, the mechanism behind these valid results is not completely clear. Explains Dr. Myriam Hunink of the Erasmus University Medical Center (Rotterdam) and the Harvard School of Public Health (Boston, USA): " Well the evidences of the beneficial effects of yoga on cardiovascular health are more and more numerous, it still remains to a large extent obscures the physiological explanation of these effects. Another not entirely clear thing is the 'dose-response' relationship and the relative costs and benefits of yoga, compared with those of traditional physical exercise and drugs. However, the results of this meta-analysis suggest that yoga could be potentially very useful and therefore I think it is certainly worth practicing it as a means to reduce cardiovascular risk ".
Other points in favor of this discipline reside in its low costs : no special equipment or structures are required and the costs of the courses, on average, are within the reach of most of the pockets even compared to other more classic disciplines.

Yoga, a possibility for our health
Now every city (and even many small towns) offer yoga classes. If for any reason the gym, the swimming pool, the park run are activities that do not match your way of being or conceiving free time, give yoga an opportunity: your heart will also thank you!
