Netra vasti: ancient treatment for eye wellness

Of the numerous Ayurvedic treatments we have often spoken with enthusiasm and curiosity

But traditional Ayurvedic practices are a very vast universe. So we show you today a treatment not yet mentioned by us, yet fascinating, very special and specific to the eyes: vast netra .

How large netra works

The practice of netra vasti is part of the Netra Chikitsa or Ayurvedic ophthalmology.

It consists of a cleansing and purifying treatment of the eyes with both curative and preventive functions . It is performed by an operator who mixes a mixture of flour, water and medicinal herbs, positioned on the patient's eyes so as to form a sort of cavity, into which the clarified butter will be poured, otherwise called ghee .

Those who receive the treatment are invited to perform eye exercises for about ten minutes before the paste is removed and the face thoroughly cleansed. These movements have the function of penetrating the butter in depth to capture all the beneficial properties.

Netra vasti can be followed and preceded by a series of regenerating massages for the face or by some simple breathing or relaxation exercises.
