The benefits of gratitude



Gratitude in the present has its own power but also requires a considerable interior listening .

There are forms of gratitude expressed without a heart or to get something out of consciousness. There are forms of gratitude that have other aims, other objectives or goals.

Then there are the graces that you cannot say to those who broke your heart, because it is immediate to point the finger or give in to pain, without even giving a different breath to what happened, a perspective that knows about eternity.

Instead, it should be remembered that each person could be a lesson to us, and that if we have attracted that encounter in this existence at any given time, it means something.

Let's get together in the complex dimension of gratitude .

Expressing gratitude is equivalent to generating a continuously flowing source of happiness, generating it in the person being thanked but also in those who thank.

Many experiments on the subject of gratitude have been made. For example, in the case of the video dedicated to the power of saying thanks (look at the bottom of the article) the participants were asked to think of someone who had done something extraordinary for them and made them feel special; it was a matter of writing lines about someone they wanted to thank from the heart.

Once a short letter was written, the participants could not imagine that they would be invited to call the person in question and read it to them.

Well, the level of happiness that had been tested on all the participants, after reading those words of gratitude on the phone, had risen by a range ranging from 4% to 19% .

Again, in TED's speech, Katia Sol explains the power of gratitude by starting the same speech with pure expressions of gratitude. In summary, the Sol, after also invoking a song to the Great Spirit, illustrates the transformative power of gratitude by inserting it in a dimension of general reorganization of leadership models .

La Sol invites the audience to imagine what it would be like to live in a city where gratitude permeates every aspect of reality, starting from dawn until sunset.

The experiment is included in the Ecology of Leadership program at the Regenerative Design Institute, founded and directed by Christopher Kuntzsch and James Stark . It is a question of rethinking in terms of cooperation, regeneration and remembering the importance of connections, with ourselves, with others, with nature.

Gratitude as therapy

Being grateful is in effect a transformative act and as such activates a very powerful self-healing process . Why?

  • It makes you real alchemists . It gives you the opportunity to color life, transform, get out of the duality of positive and negative and allows you to enter a dimension of pure, constant surprise.
  • Saying thank you means affirming life and affirming itself in it, in its flow.
  • It gives you "new eyes", or the possibility of refreshing your gaze on something wonderful that has perhaps been neglected for some time.
  • It allows you to deal with relational dynamics in a totally different way. Not that you have to avoid expressing anger when it arises, but it allows you to become so skilled as to use that emotion and thank you for being able to try it. Even being in a right anger is a wonderful experience .
  • Increase the chances that you open yourself to existence, to the wonderful art of improvising .
  • It makes you smile more . And this also benefits the diaphragm and facial muscles;
  • It connects you to something very immense, unspeakable, "ineffable", as Dante Alighieri put it.
