How Bach Flowers Work

Flower therapy is a very fascinating and suggestive world that in some ways is difficult to understand, for others it seems intuitive.

But how do the 38 flowers identified by Edward Bach work?

It is not a question of simple answer and not to be trivial or, on the contrary, too articulated in the answer, I call for help a manual written by the talented Barbara Gulminelli, a naturopath from Milan, entitled " Bach Flowers, understanding, healing and growing ", Which I invite you to read if you want to understand how flower therapy can help personal evolution and of which I quote some parts in quotation marks.

The Bach Method

" It is a method based on the concept of healing in a profound sense; it really has the goal of restoring the mind-body connection . [...] Bach flower therapy represents the link between these two universes.

It is a method that serves not only to cure evil but also to help the evolution of those who make it their own . It helps us to know ourselves better, to transcend our limits, to improve ourselves. [….] It is a method with some important practical advantages: it is economical, compatible with other forms of treatment of which it can even constitute an excellent support and is totally devoid of negative side effects ”.

The protagonist of this method is the flower which according to Bach is the concentration of plant life, because it contains the potential seed.

Bach also stated that " like good music or other great and inspired things, flowers are able to uplift our personality and get closer to our soul. Thus they give us peace and alleviate our ills ”.

But how did he manage to pinpoint exactly those 38 flowers to cure? In his research he excluded the potentially toxic plants and those that already belonged to the phytotherapy culture and instead intuitively addressed " certain flowers, bushes and wild trees of a higher order, which thanks to the strength of their vibrations increase the strength of our plants and open the canals of communication of our Higher Self ”.

Probably he took advantage of the theory of signatures, because all Bach flowers represent the imbalance they tend to correct.

How Bach Flowers Work

Here is a passage by Edward Bach explaining the philosophy that animated his research. "In true healing there is no thought of disease; it is the mental state, the only mental difficulty to be considered: it is where we are wrong in the divine plan that counts.

This disharmony with our spiritual self can produce hundreds of different defects in our bodies, because our bodies are after all simply the product of the condition of our mind . But what does it matter? If we fix our mind, the body will soon be healed ".

First of all we say that Bach Flowers are vibrational remedies . What does it mean? It means that they are remedies that act on a subtle level, which reach the request for help from our psyche .

Not in a magical way, but through our nervous system made up of electrical connections, cellular exchanges, very fast communication models.

If the physical disorder, which is treated with medicines, with herbal and herbal remedies, is also the somatization of a deeper, more hidden, more ethereal discomfort, so why not associate the Bach flowers to reach even that sphere so difficult to modulate ?

Once again I take a step from Barbara Gulminelli's manual to better explain how Bach Flowers work.

" Bach flower therapy is primarily a spiritual therapy, but this is not something esoteric or magical: like all effective methods, it too undoubtedly has a" scientific " explanation . [...]

On the other hand, the boundary between science and superstition is sometimes marked more than by the existence or otherwise of certain physical laws, by the human capacity to identify it.

Let us then try to formulate some hypotheses about the laws that govern the system developed by Bach .

The system is based on the principle that the vibrations emanating from the flowers can rebalance the human vibrations, when they are distorted. The concept of vibration is very close to that of electromagnetic wave .

Each of us is surrounded by an electromagnetic field and if it is interrupted we fall ill. Bach flowers in turn possess an electromagnetic field, whose vibrations compensate for our own, restoring the flow of energy.

This is admitted, as the vibrations of flowers can be preserved and transmitted to the remedies is still a mystery. Bach's intuition was to use the methods of sun and heat for their preparation .

In " Bach flower remedies and psychotherapy " Giuseppe Rescaldina states that this intuition anticipated the discoveries of physicist Fritz Popp on biophotonic energy in the 80s. Biophoton is the intrinsic energy of the atom and sunlight becomes a source of energy and dynamization of substances exposed to this light energy.

Water is an element of dynamization used in homeopathy and Bach also uses it to fix the properties of a flower ".

Water has a memory, due to its hydrogen molecules and therefore preserves and transmits the energy of the flower.

How to use Bach Flowers

Bach flowers address emotional disorders of various kinds and origins and can respond to them either individually or in synergistic mixtures created ad hoc with the help of a guide or a flower-therapist. Eh already because it is true that we have 38 flowers available, but how to select the most suitable is "a whole new pair of sleeves"!

There is a very articulated interview, a sort of test that accurately formulates the correct questions to obtain a picture as precise as possible of the discomfort to be taken into consideration and then identify the most effective Bach flowers.

In this regard, except for Rescue Remedy which is a first aid mixture formulated by Bach, attention to the standard mixtures that we find on the market.

If each of us lives of our emotions, the concept of personalizing the remedy is more than ever alive and current and must be respected, it would make little sense to buy the "magic potion" against the fear of the dentist rather than the one to stop smoking.

Together with the flower-therapist we identify which flowers to contemplate in our mixture and let us take 4 drops 4 times a day, upon awakening, before going to sleep and at two other times of the day away from meals, always trying to keep the same times in a harmonious ritual and rhythmic.
