Reduce milk and dairy products for a healthier diet

E 'news of a few months ago (more than a news, a confirmation) and echoes the well-known oncologist and epidemiologist, Professor Franco Berrino, that milk and milk derivatives would be excluded from a healthy ideal diet .

The source? Harvard researchers. Periodically the nutritionists of the famous Harvard University publish a guide to healthy eating, updating it from time to time according to the most recent discoveries and publications.

In the latest edition of this guide known as Healthy Eating Plate, researchers are urged to provide milk and derivatives, in moderate amounts, only to children, while in the case of adults the consumption of milk and dairy products is not recommended as it is superfluous and possibly harmful .

In fact it seems that cow's milk would nourish the cancer cells and stimulate their reproduction, and Professor Berrino goes to the point explaining that now numerous studies have shown the responsibility of the excesses of somatomedin in the blood flow of adult individuals, in case of propagation and growth of fibroids and sarcomas.

The growth factor

Somatomedin, also known as IGF-1 (from English insulin-like grow factor - insulin-like growth factor) is a hormone similar to insulin, with anabolic effects and with responsibility for the growth of children.

It is mainly produced by the liver as an endocrine hormone and the problems in its secretion are the basis of dwarfism or, on the other side of acromegaly.

We know that those who drink milk and consume dairy products have a very high level of IGF-1 in their blood, and this, instead of pushing them to continue growing in the body in adult individuals who actually do not grow anymore, would feed and stimulate growth of numerous types of cancer .

A large number of cases tell us that there is a higher incidence of metastasis in those with higher IGF-1 levels.

Professor Franco Berrino begins by not recommending the consumption of milk to those who have some form of cancer, making a long list of all healthy and plant-derived foods in which we can alternatively find all the nutrients contained in milk: proteins in legumes, calcium in black cabbage, turnips, rocket, spinach, watercress, mustard, broccoli, beetroot, leeks, artichokes, celery, batate and carrots, all capable of providing a quantity of calcium that varies between 10% and 25% of the recommended daily dose .

Milk, calcium and bone health

Let's go back to Harvard: American experts have taken the decision to remove milk and dairy products from their guide to a healthy diet and motivating the choice with the fact that in adults milk, containing a strong growth factor, is no longer an indispensable element but, rather, it only raises the risk of spreading cancer cells.

The milk is easily replaceable, according to their advice from generous amounts of water, appropriate quantities of legumes, and from the regular consumption of the long list of vegetables already listed.

Is football? And bone health? Despite the pounding advertising slogans that have been beating our brains for decades, it seems that milk does not help bones to be healthier and stronger : as has been demonstrated by many, it seems that nations that consume the most calcium are also the most susceptible to fractures .

Why? In short, the consumption of milk and dairy products would raise the level of acidity in the blood, and, in response, the body would release calcium into the circulation to rebalance the PH.

Obviously this calcium comes from the bones, which thus weaken. If you are really interested in bone health we should turn your attention to another chemical element, magnesium, which is responsible for calcium absorption.

The more calcium we eat, the more magnesium we consume, often creating deficiencies in this very important mineral.

Magnesium, ascorbid acid, vitamin D and physical activity are the true source of osteoporosis prevention .
