World Environment Day 2014

"The Planet is our shared island", we salute the 2014 World Environment Day

World Environment Day, known as WED World Environment Day , is the global event of June 5 that draws public attention and political actions on the issue of environmental sustainability, celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide since 1972.

This year it is dedicated to the islands and it is held in fact in Barbados, notoriously at the forefront in the fight against climate change. Meetings, conferences and debates are all aimed at raising the issue of small island developing states and the climate changes connected to them.

The United Nations designated 2014 as the International Year of Small Island Development (SIDS) and decided to focus on climate change and its impact on the islands. It is a choice that aims to protect small vulnerable realities from ever increasing risks, a result of climate changes, with the cry of "Raise your voice, not sea level!" .

The phrase that has become the symbol of World Environment Day 2014, launched by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, is "Planet Earth is our shared island, let's join forces to protect it", literally "Planet Earth is our shared island, let us join forces to protect it. "
