As always, suggesting a composer or a piece is really complicated: individual sensitivity, personal tastes and even a different attitude to music that characterizes each of us come into play.

In fact, if for some the music is a mere background during everyday practice, almost without importance, for others it is a fundamental component for concentration and absorption .

Notwithstanding that what we have proposed for meditation can easily be applied to yoga, let us try now to give you some further musical advice!

Any advice for your yogic musical choices

If we want to find a feature that should differentiate our meditative playlists from the yogic ones, it is that the latter can open up to some more musical concessions : either because we use bodily support, or because we are continually guided by the teacher's expert hand, in the yoga we are "helped" in maintaining concentration and constantly accompanied.

During meditation, by force of circumstances, we find ourselves contemplating our interiority with all its alone and naked disturbances: it is therefore appropriate to pay even greater attention to the environment because the tendency to get distracted is amplified.

For these greater musical possibilities offered by yoga, if you venture to search for some playlists, you will probably be amazed by the variety - even very deep - of genres : from Mozart to Mogwai, from Ravi Shankar to Tears for Fears, from the most traditional Indian music to all a current of electronic and experimental music.

Another important note musically speaking - always in the yogic field (and obviously even more in the meditative sphere) - which we feel we can give you concerns the choice of pieces tout court : avoid music in Italian that could kidnap you with the thread of words and, also, music linked for any reason to your personal history : evoking memories, images, emotions is not the role that musical accompaniment must play during yoga.

In fact, an important discourse on the function of music comes into play, useful to make you autonomous in the choices in this field: during practice, music has the unique role of removing us from the external environment, of enveloping us with its vibrations to favor concentration.

Therefore, in this context, it is appropriate to defuse the emotional power that it brings with it according to personal experience. Making a clear break in these terms means understanding and fully accepting the contribution that music can give to our life, inside and outside the mat.

Given these coordinates, how to move? Try to tap into the web, but with wisdom: in addition to youtube, there are many yoga playlists that can greatly expand your musical culture in this field.

On the contrary, the quantity of the offer could even disorient you, but do not fear; slowly you will understand more and more your musical yogic tastes and you will be able to easily identify what is right for you and what not without losing you in hours of listening. In short, another key to knowing yourself, from an unprecedented point of view!
