Spirulina, why take it

We all know what spirulina is? It is a blue alga with a spiral shape, dark green, rich in chlorophyll. It lives in the fresh water of lakes in pristine areas like the Mexican highlands. It has alkaline properties .

Properties of spirulina

Spirulina is an algae rich in many substances useful for strengthening our body .

> tocopherol : let's talk about vitamin E, with antioxidant properties, which protects the body from oxidative stress, on the liver, heart, vascular system;

> carotenoids : B-carotene, therefore precursor of vitamin A. It performs antioxidant function against free radicals . Beta-carotene is converted into retinol for the well-being of sight and its functionality ;

> ascorbic acid : vitamin C with antioxidant properties, is quickly eliminated from our body and just as quickly absorbed where necessary. Useful to counteract the oxidation of vitamin E, promotes collagen synthesis, increases iron absorption, reduces tiredness and fatigue;

> inositol: vitamin B7, stimulates the production of lecithin, thus protecting the circulatory system from the accumulation of cholesterol and the liver from the accumulation of fat. Nositol also helps the nervous system to counteract anxious or depressive conditions;

> mineral i: iron, selenium, magnesium, potassium, calcium, iodine;

> omega6: essential fatty acids useful for controlling cholesterol levels, regulating blood pressure. It is good, however, not to exceed with Omega 6 if not balanced by Omega 3. In fact they must always maintain a relationship of co-presence to avoid cardiovascular inflammation.

> vegetable proteins: certainly with lower quality of amino acids compared to animal proteins, but a valid support for those who follow a poor diet or completely devoid of meat .

Benefits from spirulina intake

Are you a sportsman?

Spirulina has an effective antioxidant action, thanks to its rich vitamin component and in particular ferridoxin and biotin act as inhibitors of the formation of lactic acid by intense effort.

Muscle mass also benefits from the protein component of amino acids, without having to resort to supplements that some athletes often abuse.

Are you vegetarian or vegan?

Spirulina is considered a superfood : from a nutritional point of view it is in fact a complete food, rich in ideal nutritive principles to balance the diet where there are specific regimes, dietary deficiencies, absorption difficulties and a sedentary lifestyle.

As already mentioned, spirulina has a high protein content, ideal for completing the supply of nutrients for those who have embraced vegetarian or vegan choices .

Do you feel tired?

Spirulina works as an effective restorative tonic . Rich in iron and vitamins of the B, A, C, E group, it helps to combat physical and mental fatigue, to support the body during seasonal changes and to strengthen the immune system. Respecting the recommended dosages it is possible to take it cyclically according to the indications of the herbalist.

Are you following a weight loss diet?

Given that the weight loss diet must always be studied ad hoc by a nutritionist, there may be nutritional imbalances if someone applies a "do it yourself" diet.

Spirulina compensates and completes food imbalances, but above all reduces the sense of hunger, thanks to an essential amino acid, phenylalanine, capable of transmitting a sense of satiety and serenity to the central nervous system through neurotransmitters, thus also effective in case of bulimic starvation .
