Stop the disposable plastic
At the beginning of the summer the announcement of the definitive NO of Costa Rica to disposable plastic, in correspondence of the World Environment Day, the day dedicated to the environment.
A decision positively welcomed by the United Nations and its Development Program which, on the dedicated page, honors with the words of the Minister of Environment and Health - in the front row for this change - and the local United Nations representative, to a country that has decided to lead the way at the end of this type of production.
In fact, a gap to be filled : even if the country has set a good example in the past, stopping and reversing the process of deforestation, it has not been so respectful of environmental pollution and undifferentiated waste collection, many of which are sadly ended up forming part of the landscape, the land, the sea and the beaches of Costa Rica.
"A country free from disposable plastic", the mantra of Costa Rica
So Costa Rica now has virtuous plans and strong ambitions for economic growth in the country, but also for environmental protection.
A decade ago, the announcement to reduce the use of coal by 2021, becoming " carbon neutral ", made this little Central American city an emblem; here is a new important goal to be achieved: within four years all types of disposable or disposable plastic will be eliminated, replacing them with alternative greens, such as water-soluble and biodegradable materials .
From plastic coffee pallets, to straws, from shop bags to plastic bottles, to various containers and bags : all this will begin to stop being produced. As reported by the managers, "A country free from disposable plastic", will be the mantra of Costa Rica, as well as one of the largest and most important missions to be completed.
Continuing to move towards a type of sustainable production, recycling, recycling and reuse, also creates job and development opportunities, improves people's health, ensures fair and fair remuneration, while taking care of the forests and the areas most country risk.
The representatives conclude "We believe that our experience, from a small country like Costa Rica, can become a source of inspiration for the whole world ".

Together we win: reject plastic!
The fear is stronger than inaction: " Recent studies have shown that by 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the sea, " said deputy minister Fernando Mora .
Surely it will not be a simple job ; it is certain that the government will not be able to do everything by itself, but it will have to be helped in its campaign of refusal of plastic and promotion of new materials by the companies and by the citizens themselves, who will have to set a good example and encourage change in this direction.
According to The Tico Times, non-governmental organizations, such as Costa Rica USA Foundation for Cooperation and MarViva, but also National Chamber of Retailers, have already joined this initiative, publicly supporting it in all its actions.
Even sports associations, such as surf clubs, the Surfingnationmag communicates, already have more than commendable intentions: the Guanacasteco de Surf Circuit (CGS), wants to become the first green circuit of Costa Rica: in fact last summer it used the bottles, the plastic bags and glasses of surf tournaments with reusable alternatives and containers.
