Review to the book "Sensitivity to gluten"

Why read "Gluten Sensitivity"

Gluten is "guilty" of many ailments ranging from belly swellings to irregularities and abdominal discomforts, but not only. Discovered in 2011, the gluten sensitivity syndrome is increasingly widespread and still difficult to recognize.

Dr. Alessandro Targhetta - known geriatrician, nutritionist, phytotherapist and homeopath - with his book aims to help in this sense: to help the reader to go back, through the precise knowledge of the symptoms, to a possible pathology related to individual sensitivity to gluten.

The syndrome, also known as Gluten Sensitivity , brings us back to the body's inability to digest the protein found in cereals, gluten, which is a different dysfunction compared to celiac disease and wheat allergy, so it seems that today around 25% population between children and adults can suffer.

Where is the gluten?

Gluten is the protein found in the most common cereals, such as wheat, spelled, kamut wheat or rye. Pasta, bread, crackers, biscuits, rusks and even non-bakery industrial products contain or may contain gluten.

As the doctor points out, there are others that do not, namely many cereals or non-cereals such as rice, corn, millet, sorghum and amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat, which are also highly rich in nutritional values, omega 3, vitamins and amino acids essential, able to substitute classic cereal optimally.

Symptoms related to gluten

There are many symptoms and disorders localized in various apparatuses connected with the consumption of gluten, but it is not always easy to trace them back to gluten sensitivity. As Targhetta points out, there are in fact many people who turn to specialists for years, without having been able to solve problems and understand where the symptoms come from.

The symptoms are primarily related to the gastrointestinal system, such as gastritis and colitis, but these are not the only ones. The body can also meet a whole series of symptoms that are not directly traceable to gluten, such as recurrent cystitis and vaginitis, or even dermatitis, sleep disorders, irritability, nervousness .

They are not from less thyroidites or hypothyroidites.
