5 Indonesian aphrodisiac and vegan recipes



Exotic dreams start from the kitchen: if you can't fly far, treat yourself to a dinner full of aphrodisiac perfumes and distant flavors, something special, spicy and extraordinary and at the same time simple to prepare.

Nasi Goreng vegan

Ingredients for 4 people :

> a couple of cups filled with basmati rice,

> large champignon mushrooms

> a couple of carrots,

> an onion,

> a leek, a clove of garlic,

> a red pepper,

> sambal oelek (chili paste),

> soy sauce,

> salt, peanut oil

Preparation : wash the rice under running water, drain it and cook it in a pan with twice as much cold water. Bring to a boil over high heat covering everything, then lower, stir and cook over low heat without a lid; finally leave to rest for another ten minutes.

Meanwhile, cut all the vegetables into very small pieces and the leek into rounds. Then sauté the vegetables in the wok or similar pan (only the mushrooms should be added the last five minutes), with peanut oil, chilli paste and soy. Then add the rice and mix, seasoning with more sauce if necessary, sauté over high heat for a couple of minutes and serve hot.

Bala bala, vegetable fritters

Ingredients for a dozen pancakes :

> half a cabbage,

> 50 grams of bean sprouts,

> a carrot,

> a potato,

> flour,

> a clove of garlic,

> an onion,

> pepper, salt,

> vegetable broth,

> oil for frying

Preparation : chop the raw cabbage, garlic and onion; add the julienne carrots, the bean sprouts, pepper, salt, a crushed potato. Work well until you get a homogeneous mixture, adding water if necessary.

In a pan put the oil to fry and pour the mixture a spoonful at a time, to obtain golden pancakes. Drain and leave to cool on absorbent paper, serve hot, accompanied with soy sauce or hot sauce.

Indonesian vegetable soup

Ingredients for 4 people :

> 100 grams of semolina tagliolini (oriental tagliolini would be egg-shaped),

> a small cauliflower,

> a Chinese cabbage,

> 3 spring onions,

> a ripe tomato,

> soy sauce,

> a tablespoon of cumin powder and one of coriander

Preparation : in a saucepan filled with vegetable broth, add all the chopped vegetables, soy sauce and spices, then bring to the boil and cook for about 10-15 minutes; add the tagliolini now, leaving to cook for the indicated time. Serve your soup hot.

Corn and peanut croquettes

Ingredients for 4 people:

> a pair of milk cobs (ie very young, with tender grains)

> a cup of roasted peanuts,

> a couple of onions,

> a couple of teaspoons of fresh grated ginger,

> a clove of garlic,

> a boiled potato,

> a little cumin of ground cumin,

> a couple of tablespoons of rice flour,

> seed oil, salt and pepper

Preparation : boil the cobs for two minutes, then grind the corn grains; clean the onions and put them in a mixer with the garlic, corn, ginger, peanuts and cumin, chopping everything very finely.

Add the crushed boiled potato, salt and pepper and the rice flour, stirring well. Heat a little oil in a non-stick pan and form croquettes by sliding the dough between two spoons.

Fry on both sides and place on absorbent paper. If you prefer lighter croquettes you can bake them at 180 ° C for about 15/20 minutes, turning them once.

Coconut yellow rice

Ingredients for 4 people :

> a couple of cups filled with basmati rice,

> turmeric powder,

> cardamom powder,

> curry,

> caraway seeds,

> 2 spring onions,

> 3 tablespoons of peanuts,

> a tablespoon of dried coconut,

> a cup of coconut milk,

> a tablespoon of peanut oil

Preparation : cut the cleaned onions into thin slices; in a large pan put the oil, the chopped peanuts, the dried coconut; Sauté for a couple of minutes and then add the coconut milk, two cups of water, half a teaspoon of curry and the onions. Bring to a boil and cook for a couple of minutes.

Then add the remaining spices: half a teaspoon of turmeric, half of cardamom, a pinch of cumin seeds and finally the rice. Cook the rice, cooking it without a lid until it has absorbed all the liquid. Then lower the flame completely and minimum and finish cooking with the lid. Only if necessary add a little water. Serve the rice hot, sprinkled with fresh coriander or pepper to taste.
