Why the streetwork? And how well can it do to muscles and sustain not only toning but also losing weight?

Let's see together what this urban practice is that allows you to train anywhere and transform what nature and architecture make available as functional training tools.

Streetwork: functional training in the city

Streetwork is functional street training, suitable for any place and circumstance, practicable indoors or outdoors. If you are in a very polluted city, it is good to choose places near the parks to avoid breathing too much polluted air.

The training is based on a precise methodology, technique and programming, with periodization of the exercises. It gains all the physical form as a whole, especially if a certain gradation is followed throughout the training.

In fact, the training consists of 4 phases: Aerobic-Olympic-Calisthenic-Functional. Training can be done in the gym, in the park, in the mountains, at the sea and you work both in aerobic and anaerobic form.

Indoor training includes the free use of bars, rings, kettlebells, madballs, nautical ropes, 40-100 kg tires, sacks, sandbags, trxes, Olympic barbells and everything else available.

In the outdoor walls, benches, trees and everything in nature becomes a useful tool for doing workouts.

Streetwork exercises

Very specific videos and a very rich photo gallery are available on the Streetwork official website. Good part of the training concerns the work of the various muscle districts in the loading phase: you learn how to lift a barbell in the most correct way, so as not to incur damage for example to the load of the cervical or other areas of the back.

The trainer then helps a lot to understand yourself and the way your heart works, in synergy with your muscles: how much load you can carry, how far you can go and for how long. It also takes time to learn the technique of kettlebells and ropes. Various videos of international Streetwork competitions are available online.

Benefits of the streetwork

The work is designed to achieve excellent muscle quality and good aerobic endurance to stay in shape and be ready to practice any sporting activity. It is also functional for dealing with everyday life and today's society rich in physical and mental stress in an energetic and at the same time relaxed way.

Streetwork is excellent both in improving athletic performance (development of strength, speed, power, endurance) and in the fitness field (with programs aimed at toning and maximum loss of body fat).

The goal, before taking charge of the loads, is to give a basic tone to the various muscle areas in a harmonious way, starting from the abdominal center and the paravertebral muscles , in order to build a solid structure.
