What is mycosis

Mycoses are determined by microscopic fungi that spread around or inside the single hair, alter its structure and determine its fall.

Mycosis symptoms

Fungal infection occurs through spores that spread into the environment, so it is not necessary to have direct contact to get the symptoms of the disease.

These mushrooms are very common in the environment and are very often in contact with them. They get the upper hand and there are symptoms only when the body has a decrease in defense due to other diseases or, more frequently, due to organic or mental stress.

Mycoses can appear in the form of small crusts in the area around the neck, hair that comes off in bunches, wormholes in the mantle . In particular, the roundish areas must be considered, completely without hair (alopecic areas) in which the skin is intact, without inflammation at the edges of which the hair detaches at the minimum traction.

This type of injury can occur throughout the body, but more often it is found at the level of the head, ears, neck or legs.

Mycosis of the dog: prevention and natural remedies

To treat the dog's mycoses, first of all we must strengthen the body with good quality food and a highly bioavailable multivitamin.

Supplements of biospirulin or kelp algae, mixed with food and that are well accepted by the dog are also good.

Spirulina is a unicellular blue alga that owes its name to the characteristic spiral shape. Particularly rich in proteins, lipids and vitamins, in addition to being an excellent nutritional supplement, it is also a highly digestible food, thanks to its non-cellulosic protein mucus cell wall.

The main components are proteins (consisting of all essential amino acids), lipids, vitamins, mineral salts (excluding iodine) and carbohydrates. The daily dosage is 25 mg per 10 kg of weight .

If the mycosis is localized and identified in the early stages of onset, only one local treatment can be done with specific natural topical products . It is therefore good to subject the dog to an energetic anti-fungal shampoo.

On the market there are specific ones based on melaleuca (tea tree) . On the alopecic patches, propolis and melaleuca should be put instead, or cumin and rosemary 2-3 times a day until the hair reappears. On the market there are oily preparations with the right proportion of these essential oils for topical use.
