The diffusers of essential oils: what they are and how to use them

Aromatherapy is a technique of using essences and fragrances to preserve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the individual.

The essential oils, obtained from plants and flowers, are used for food, cosmetic, therapeutic purposes and in some cultures also for ritual purposes, since ancient times.

Essential oils concentrate in a few drops very useful active ingredients both for cosmetic and therapeutic purposes. They condense the essence of the plant from which they are derived, in its chemical and physical characteristics, reporting also the environment of origin and culture.

To use these precious natural elements at their best, different techniques can be used: inhalations, wraps, diffusers, massage oils.

Let's see how to use the speakers .

Aromatherapy using diffusers

The diffusers of essential oils have different effects on the oils that are used, because the medium through which they are dispersed and the temperature with which they are heated are different.

Applications of essential oils

Candle diffuser

Essential oils can be spread by adding essential oil to candle wax . This method heats and burns the essential oil, making it release its aroma quickly.

Essential oils are flammable, so it is easier to use candles with a large diameter and pay attention that the oil does not come into contact with the wick or the flame.

It is useful when you want to create an intense atmosphere in a short time, and it is not recommended for curative aromatherapy .

Aroma diffuser

There are numerous diffusers of essential oils made up of small ceramic, natural stone or glass vases heated by candles .

These diffusers are used with the addition of water to the oils and allow the aromas to spread gradually. The temperature is lower than that reached by the wax, therefore the perfumes released are less compromised and less intense.

It is the preferred method to purify environments and create atmospheres throughout the home, making aromatherapy benefit anyone who stations and lives there.

Electric diffusers

The electric speakers have the same function as the speakers powered by the lights. However, they have the advantage of being able to spread aromas for much longer, in larger quantities and in a faster way.

Other methods of spreading essential oils

Essential oils can also be diffused in other ways, for example by leaving a few drops on a light bulb which, when heated, once lit, will release the essences. Unfortunately, like candles, light bulbs can reach temperatures that compromise the aromatic note of the oil.

Another method of spreading essential oils is to use a spray . Essential oils are dissolved in water and then sprinkled in the environment. This method is used to purify curtains or carpets, or for aromatherapy on plants.

Finally, essential oils can be spread using firewood . If you are in possession of a fireplace you can use a log, usually of pine or cypress, on which to drop a few drops of essential oil and then burn in the fireplace.

It must always be remembered that oils are flammable, so only one drop per log is enough and only one log for bonfires.
