Oral candidiasis: symptoms and natural remedies

Also the mucous membrane of the mouth and the oral cavity can be affected by Candida Albicans unfortunately.

It is important to consult a specialist doctor for a correct diagnosis and related therapy, in order to stem the candida infection while not being contagious.

Often one is affected when there is a lowering of the immune defenses, or if one has been subjected to an antibiotic treatment .

Patients with HIV are subject to various kinds of fungal diseases, including oral candidiasis; the same goes for people with diabetes, with high blood sugar levels.

Care should also be taken with those who use a dental prosthesis : the hygiene of the denture and mouth should be frequent and accurate.

Symptoms of oral candidiasis

The symptoms can be multiple and in less fortunate cases, they can all present themselves together. Oral candidiasis manifests as whitish plaques in the mouth and throat, sometimes bringing with them pain.

The mucous membranes are very red, and there is the sensation of an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Often cuts are present on the sides of the lips, and swallowing is tiring and annoying.

As you can see these are symptoms similar to other oral infections, so it is good that the diagnosis is entrusted to a specialist in order to prepare the correct pharmacological care .

Natural remedies for oral candidiasis

We can associate to the pharmacological treatment prescribed by the doctor some natural remedies to soothe and disinfect the oral cavity, which will work in synergy with the medicines and will shorten the recovery time.

Probiotics

First of all it is good to strengthen the immune defenses and therefore nourish the intestinal bacterial flora with the breakthrough cavalry: probiotics.

I recommend the probiotics in spores that guarantee us to arrive intact and live up to the destination, that is, up to our intestines. Fresh probiotics must in fact be kept in the refrigerator and transports from producers to retailers do not always ensure the respect of the cold chain.

Probiotics such as Bacillus Coagulans enriched with prebiotics such as FOS, the fructooligosaccharides develop about 10 billion good bacteria that help to fight infections and diseases.

Tea Tree Oil and grapefruit seed extract

We can use a mixture of these antifungal and antibacterial essential oils to make rinses and gargles .

Dissolve 5 drops of both Tea Tree and grapefruit seed extract in a little water to wash the gums, tongue and oral cavity.

We hold the mixture in our mouth for a few minutes and then rinse everything. The taste is not very pleasant and if we really struggle we can add a few drops of squeezed lemon .

Salt and vinegar

Another effective mixture that burns a little but disinfects, as my grandmother would say, is given by salt and vinegar dissolved in a glass of water .

They are essentially healing and disinfectant remedies, without antifungal properties, but can be alternated with essential oils and used for cleaning the oral cavity even when it is not affected by diseases.

It can be a great mix for cleaning those who wear a dental prosthesis.

Myrrh

Myrrh is an antiseptic resin with healing properties. It has antifungal properties and is indicated in cases of stomatitis, mouth ulcers, candidiasis of the oral cavity, sore throat, gingivitis and pyorrhea .

We can easily find it in herbal medicine, there are also ready-made generators to make gargles and rinses .

No contraindications and can be used several times a day. If you cannot find the mouthwash you can use the essential oil: 5 drops in a little water with the warning not to swallow it, because essential oils can be irritating.
