Laugh that passes you: the benefits of laughter

When we laugh, so-called "wellness hormones" are produced.

These hormones are represented by endorphins, real natural drugs, able to give euphoria and good humor.

Endorphins are produced by our brain and act as neurotransmitters.

So, the more you laugh, the more endorphins are put in a circle giving good humor and joy .

The main organs that benefit when we laugh are: the heart (it is not by chance that we say "laugh at heart"), the brain (endorphins are produced), the lungs (oxygenation) and the muscles .

There is a real science that studies the benefits of laughter and the positive emotions that derive from it: gelotology .

In fact, from numerous studies conducted, it has now been established that laughter is good for health .

When you make a laugh, spontaneous and liberating, different mechanisms are triggered that positively affect the body giving it a generalized well-being. In particular, when laughing, the following beneficial processes are put into action:

    > Pain: laughing relieves pain, laughing in fact triggers in the body the mechanism of production of natural painkillers (endorphins) that have analgesic action and allow to lower the threshold of pain perception, reducing it.

    > Humor: laughing helps to lift the mood by fighting depression and bad mood. This antidepressant action is due to the production of serotonin (a natural antidepressant used to keep our mood balanced) and endorphins which are the best weapon against cortisol and adrenaline which are the hormones that trigger anxiety and stress. The decrease in stress also affects blood pressure values, keeping it at normal values and the level of glucose in the blood.

    > Cardiovascular system: laughing stimulates blood circulation and is good for the heart. Laughing improves blood circulation, allowing greater oxygenation to all the tissues of our body and speeding up their regeneration.

    > Breathing: laughing improves breathing and is good for the lungs. Thanks to the production of endorphins and their release, laughter promotes the work of the muscles involved in the respiratory action, such as the diaphragm. Laughing they also relax the smooth fibers of the bronchi and then breathe better.

    > Stress: laughing counteracts stress by relieving nervous tension due to worries, anxiety and fatigue, Laughing, in fact, is produced serotonin (antistress hormone).

    > Immune defenses: laughing helps strengthen the immune system against attacks by pathogens. This action of immune defense is given by the production of enkephalins which strengthen the immune system, favoring the production of antibodies, making it more reactive in its response to pathogens.

    > Muscular system: laughing, different muscle groups move. Suffice it to say that during a laugh the majority of the facial muscles are activated (around 20). Laughing, the abdomen and the diaphragm are activated, improving breathing and stimulating the internal abdominal organs (in particular the liver and intestine).

    > Epithelial tissue: laughing improves the appearance of the skin making it more toned, thanks to tissue oxygenation.
