Essential oils are precious ingredients for beauty: let's see what are the most suitable essential oils for facial skin, to fight wrinkles, soothe irritations and counteract imperfections.

Which essential oils to choose for the face skin

Each essential oil has special properties that characterize it and make it more suitable for the treatment of various types of skin .

The most useful essential oils to fight wrinkles and signs of aging are surely that of rose and that of geranium, suitable also in the case of dry and dehydrated skin; if the face also has dark spots, the essential oils just seen can be combined with the lemon one .

If, on the other hand, we have oily skin, it benefits more from treatments carried out with the essential oils of orange, lemon and rosemary ; if the facial skin also has impurities, such as pimples, pimples and blackheads, you can also use the essential oil of malaleuca or lavender on the face,

In the case of couperose, or acne rosacea, it is better to focus on the essential oils of chamomile and rose or on the essential oil of carrot.

The essential oil of chamomile is also useful to soothe irritation of sensitive skin, as well as that of lavender: these two essential oils are also perfect in case of acne, dermatitis, psoriasis and slight sunburn caused by sun exposure.

How to use essential oils for facial skin

Essential oils are highly concentrated products, so they should be used in small doses and always diluted .

In order to apply essential oils on the skin of the face, it is advisable to mix them in a vegetable oil, to be chosen according to your skin type:

  • if you have oily skin you can use hazelnut vegetable oil or liquid jojoba wax;
  • for dry and mature skins they will instead opt for argan or avocado oil,
  • normal skins can use sunflower oil
  • the sensitive ones will use olive oil.

The basic recipe for face oil

Below, the basic recipe for preparing face oil, to be customized according to your needs.

Ingredients :

> 30 ml of vegetable oil

> 5 drops of essential oil

Preparation : add the essential oil to the vegetable oil and mix lightly. Let it rest for 24 hours before using the anti-wrinkle oil. Apply a few drops on face, neck and décolleté, massaging until completely absorbed.

Face masks with essential oils

The essential oils we have just seen can also be used to prepare face masks, to be applied twice a week: the masks are particularly suitable for those with oily and impure and mature skin because they help purify in depth by improving the complexion and the appearance of the skin.

To prepare a DIY face mask with essential oils, only three ingredients are needed in just a few minutes.

Ingredients

> a spoon of green clay

> two drops of essential oil

> two tablespoons of water

Preparation: the procedure to prepare the mask is very simple: it is sufficient to add to the clay the most suitable essential oil for your skin, add the water and mix until obtaining a homogeneous cream.

The mask is applied to the face excluding the eye area, left on for about ten minutes and rinsed with warm water.

Facial scrub with essential oils

Scrubs have an exfoliating action that helps cell renewal: they are performed once a week to have a smoother, softer and brighter skin, with a younger appearance.

By combining the right essential oils with the scrub, we can customize the treatment for mature or impure skin. Let's see how to prepare a scrub for the face in a few minutes.

Ingredients

> a tablespoon of cane sugar

> two tablespoons of vegetable oil

> two drops of essential oil

Preparation : mix all the ingredients in a small container; close the container and let the preparation rest for at least an hour. Apply the scrub to wet skin and leave on for five minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Do not scrub in case of acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, couperose, sensitive, irritated or injured skin.
