DIY beauty is as old as the world
Do-it-yourself beauty is not a technique, nor is it learned in the school of aesthetics: it is a concept that has always existed in the homes of women from all over the world, from India to Africa to Europe, among the highest mountains or on the coasts of the seas: everywhere women have found at their disposal, thanks to nature and thanks to some small recipe handed down by wise grandmothers, all the ingredients to keep naturally beautiful and strive with the beauty remedies do it yourself, face care and for the body, saving time and money. It's funny that today you can even follow DIY beauty remedies on Twitter; we talk about spontaneous plants, foods, products of the earth that improve aesthetics and feminine beauty. But what are the most mentioned remedies? They are herbs like henna or ivy, foods like milk, yogurt, fruit, vegetables and products of the earth such as natural clays, white, green and red.
Italian women are lucky in this. Italy in particular is a land rich in these precious foods: from north to south you can find products that help DIY beauty to express itself in the best way. In this period the seasonal fruits that come to meet us are: tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, olive oil, plums, apricots, carrots, all natural and local products which, precisely because they are Italians, belong to us, are in our DNA and they can certainly do us good, even from the outside.
Scrub for the skin: yogurt, sugar and honey
Let's start with some do-it-yourself beauty remedy made of very sweet flavors. It is evident that the part of our body that immediately summarizes our health condition is the skin. Our skin speaks about us: at this time of year it is important to keep it ready and reactive to prevent any injury that the sun can cause. First of all, what would be good for the skin to prepare it for the sun, is a small DIY beauty recipe that contains the effect of a scrub.
Here is the recipe: mix yogurt (preferably whole white) and coarse-grained cane sugar in a bowl, gently massage on the face and around the lips, rinse and then apply honey that serves to nourish the skin well and avoid redness. Apply at least five minutes, wash your face with warm water and apply rose water with a cotton ball.
As an alternative to rose water, rosemary and thyme are perfect as decongestants. In half a liter of water, boil two or three sprigs of rosemary and a handful of thyme, leave to cool and then wipe the face with a cotton ball.
Egg masks: toning with the yolk and against redness with white
To make a toning mask you need to take an egg yolk, beat it in a bowl with two tablespoons of olive oil and put it all over your face and neck. Keep the mixture about twenty minutes and then rinse.
In the meantime, don't throw away the white: if you have invited a friend of yours for your DIY day, whip the white wine, take a cucumber, cut it into small pieces and add a tablespoon of milk and rose water ; stirring the preparation, proceed by placing it on two or three layers of gauze that will rest on your face. It is a fantastic DIY beauty mask, anti-fatigue and anti-reddening.
Plums and tomatoes against large pores and oily skins
Summer also includes plums, particularly black plums, rich in antioxidants, potassium, vitamins A, C, B1, B2 and PP, which deeply nourish the dermis. Then take a small saucepan and boil five black plums, collect the pulp and, once it has cooled, add a few drops of sweet almond oil, apply the mixture to the face for about twenty minutes. Wash it all off with rose water.
To achieve a simple and effective mask against greasy skins, proceed as follows : r receive the juice of half a lemon with that of two tomatoes and spread it carefully on the nose, cheeks, chin and forehead; let it absorb for half an hour and rinse with cold water.
