Herbal teas for allergies



An allergy is a disorder of the immune system that reacts disproportionately to contact (by air, food, injection or topical) with particular substances known as allergens.

The most common allergens in nature are pollen, dust mites, insect poisons, molds and yeasts, some foods and drugs .

The reactions that these allergens can cause are more or less serious: like a stuffy nose ; itchy nose, throat, mouth and lips; itching and redness of the eyes with swollen and watery eyelids; runny nose and sneezing; itchy skin with rashes and redness; diarrhea associated with stomach pain, nausea and vomiting; cough, shortness of breath, wheezing and asthma.

However, there are numerous natural remedies for treating allergies, in particular some herbal and spice teas with a decongestant action, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, immunostimulant and hypoallergenic . Let's find out how to prepare them.

Burdock tea

  • Features: Burdock is excellent for calming skin irritations, such as hives or similar allergies, it stimulates the immune system and calms inflammation; it is also a valid alletto to alleviate irritations to the stomach, liver and urinary tract.
  • Recipe : prepare an infusion by pouring about 4 g of burdock leaves into 100 ml of water and let it infuse for about ten minutes before drinking. It can also be applied externally on the skin to be treated, soaking pieces of sterile gauze in the herbal tea.
  • Use: take a cup in the morning, before breakfast, as soon as you wake up.
  • Properties : anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, skin healing.

Decoction with turmeric

  • Characteristics : turmeric is a powerful anti-inflammatory and natural disinfectant, used in case of general inflammations to the skin, allergies, but also disorders of the joints, to combat arthrosis and arthritis
  • Recipe: prepare a decoction by pouring a tablespoon of fresh grated turmeric root and a small piece of ginger root into a pot of boiling water. Laciare cook over low heat for about a quarter of an hour, filter everything and sweeten with honey and lemon. If you prefer, you can use dried powdered spices, but the cooking time should be reduced to 8/10 minutes.
  • Use: take one cup a day, when there are particular inflammatory states of the skin or joint pain.
  • Properties: immunostimulant, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic.

Decoction with thyme

  • Characteristics: This herbal tea is useful for all respiratory allergies and in particular for dust allergies, it is a decongestant and free mucus and phlegm nose and throat.
  • Recipe: thyme, eucalyptus, elderberry, horse chestnut and borage in equal parts, infuse the herbs for 10 minutes in a cup of water, filter.
  • Use: drink 2 times a day between meals.
  • Properties: decongestants, expectorants, hypoallergenic.
