Stress labyrinthitis ? I already rightly imagine the otolaryngologist doctors horrified at this definition, but it is also true that the spoken language is always in continuous evolution and we must also deal with contamination from the scientific lexicon, improperly used.
We therefore kindly accept the term "labyrinthitis" to indicate a very strong state of vertigo, which prevents us from maintaining balance, although it may not be caused by a disease affecting the ear .
We see the symptoms to better understand what happens in this very difficult condition to manage.
Symptoms of stress labyrinthitis
The first obvious symptom is vertigo : the feeling that all the surrounding environment turns around us. The sight fails to help us keep the "straight", also because in front of this tourbillon we tend to close our eyes. The head, so-called "balorda", does not allow you to remain standing, you have to sit or rather lie down .
This first symptom may be accompanied by a feeling of fainting, lack of strength and the power of proprioceptive control. Vertigo usually causes nausea, agitation, headache .
Stress labyrinthitis also brings with it shoulder pain, contracted muscles of the cervical and dorsal portion of the back . Since the definition itself indicates the cause, stress, it is likely that there may also be a blockage of the diaphragm, with consequent difficulty in breathing deeply.
This limit triggers a rather simple vicious circle to be identified : contracted shoulders, stiffened paravertebral, occipital and cervical tension, slack abdominal muscles, poor oxygenation with shortness of breath.
Remedies for stress labyrinthitis
If, after a visit to the specialist doctor, there is no disease affecting the ear or the neck, anxiety is certainly to be considered the trigger for stress labyrinthitis, which is poured on the respiration and the muscles.
> Tai Chi and Hatha Yoga can represent the right answer to start a path of self-control of emotion and of the approach to this life so rich, even of difficulty. Learning to manage anxiety with certain practices such as tai-chi and yoga, which pass through the learning of proper breathing, postures and exercises that stretch the entire musculoskeletal system are the basis for preventing stress labyrinthine episodes.
> A ready-to-use remedy against the main symptom: vertigo. It is necessary to lie down, possibly in the dark, in a supine position, so as to relax the back, neck and eye muscles as much as possible while waiting for them to pass.
> Plantar reflexology : starting a cycle of sessions, generally from 7 to 10, to rebalance the whole psychophysical system, is a practice indicated in these cases of stress labyrinthitis, because the position taken with reflexology for treatment is compatible with the symptomatology, the approach levels are multidisciplinary: muscular, respiratory, circulatory, emotional.
The labyrinthitis proper
By labyrinthitis is meant an inflammation of the auditory apparatus, of the vestibular part . The labyrinthitis can be of acute origin: it arrives suddenly, generally carries with it a slight deafness, dizziness, nausea, loss of balance, with purulent formation. Or it may be of chronic origin, with milder but more lasting manifestations, up to a month of symptoms.
The therapy is pharmacological, with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, based on the diagnosis and the cause.
