An unforgettable blue holiday
Legambiente and Touring Club report in the Blue Guide 2018, entitled "The most beautiful sea", the most pristine beaches, seas and lakes of Italy.
The activities to be performed are also indicated: from snorkelling to walks, from pure relaxation to the history and gastronomy of the areas visited.
The guide collects and illustrates 44 bathing areas of the peninsula, including a series of local lakes.
The main thread is a selection based essentially on water quality, attention to the naturalistic and environmental aspect, but also to the possibility of practicing sports and hiking.
Consideration was also given to those areas where sustainable land management policies are put into practice, which help to carry out responsible, clean, respectful tourism that is able to adopt alternative mobility practices.

Sardinia stands first in the standings with:
> the magnificent Litorale di Chia, near Domus de Maria, just below Cagliari;
> the Litorale di Baunei, on the east coast below Orosei ;
> the Lands of the Barony with its pristine beaches;
> the Caribbean coasts near Posada, in the Tepilora Park, Nuoro.
Moving slightly away from the sea in Sardinia you can also meet a unique biosphere and a park full of interesting routes, both for flora and fauna.
The region of Sicily, with the island of Ustica, Salina and the north coast of Trapani if it plays with Puglia and Tuscany.
In Puglia the Coast of the Agricultural Park of Secular Olives was awarded, between Bari and Brindisi, but also the upper Adriatic Salento.
The "I am a friend of the sea" award also went to the mayor of the Tremiti islands, Antonio Fentini, for his battle against plastics at sea and the ordinance prohibiting disposable tableware. Here is the interview for Foggia Today.
The Conero Riviera, another highly awarded area, with its regional park and the hidden Mezzavalle beach .
There is no lack of recognition for Tuscany, with the Maremma and Castiglione della Pescaia, just below Piombino. Here the long beach stands out among nature reserves and protected areas where flamingos can also be seen.
To the north we find the inevitable Liguria with the Cinque Terre, in particular the town of Vernazza.
The lakes awarded by the Blue Guide
Blue sails also for the lakes. In the Marches the Fiastra Lake dominates, with its spectacular and bathing waters.
In Trentino as many as 10 lake areas in the province of Trento have received the precious recognition. We talk about places like Bedollo, on Lago delle Piazze; Baselga di Pinè and Lake Serraia; the lakes of Caldonazzo, Molveno and Levico, but also smaller lakes such as Canzolino and Lake Costa.
In the province of Bolzano there is Lake Fiè, in the spectacular area of the Sciliar-Catinaccio Natural Park.
Veneto is not far behind, with Lake Mis, Piedmont with Lake Grande di Avigliana and also the Lago dell'Accesa in Massa Marittima, Tuscany is reconfirmed.
