Description of the plant
Staphysagria is a herbaceous plant of the Ranuncolaceae family widely used in homeopathy; it is native to the Mediterranean regions and grows spontaneously in Europe, in some regions of Asia and in North Africa.
It can reach a height of up to 100 cm and has beautiful blue-violet flowers arranged in clusters; the hairy fruits contain large seeds about 5 mm in size, from which the homeopathic remedy is obtained.
Once upon a time there was a lot of use as a folk remedy for the treatment and elimination of lice, hence the name "lice grass" . The homeopathic preparation is obtained by mixing the seeds with an equal amount of plaster and allowing the powder to macerate cold for a week with alcohol. The mother tincture contains oils, malic acid and a small percentage of alkaloids including Delfinina and Stafisagrina.
