Many of the choices we can make to live ecologically without too many sacrifices start with spending. Let's see how.
Let's start with spending
Living in an ecological way starting from the shopping is simple, just follow these simple steps:
> give priority to companies that use recyclable packaging that is proportional to the content; in this way the waste is greatly reduced;
> buy seasonal fruit and vegetables ;
> prefer zero kilometer or short chain products ;
> eat less meat. Those who are vegetarian already do a lot; those who are not vegetarian can make an ecological choice by buying less meat . Furthermore, avoid fish that is not in season, as fish products also have a seasonality: respecting it helps ecology and, often, also the economy of our country;
> use less detergents, preferably on tap;
> organize a shopping list to buy only what is actually needed, so as to avoid having to throw the food in the garbage.
How is ecological shopping done?
Living in an ecological way by reducing waste
We all produce an exaggerated amount of waste . The first way to reduce them is to organize the shopping well, as we said above, but there are other habits that we can embrace for this purpose:
- avoid disposable products as much as possible: plastic glasses and plates, disposable tablecloths, paper napkins, etc. etc.
- Never throw discarded clothes, especially those of children, which must be replaced continuously. The solutions to recycle them are many: exchange them with relatives and friends, sell them at the flea market or on specialized sites, donate them to charities, take them to the containers for the collection of used clothes that are now almost everywhere.
- More generally, don't throw away the objects we don't use anymore or the gifts that we didn't like: that flower holder that we really don't like could look good in a friend's house, the cell phone that now seems outdated could make our mother-in-law happy . An alternative to giving away objects that we no longer use or that we don't like is to take them to flea markets that are now everywhere or sell them through specialized websites. A third possibility is to transform : does that furniture no longer fit into our living room? We can transform it or give it another destination. The concept remains the same: not to produce waste, to give new life to objects. Reuse, recycle, transform, but do not throw away or at least throw as little as possible. Obviously, to learn how to throw less, one must first of all get used to buying less.
An ecological lifestyle
Finally, there are some very simple actions that can enter our daily life to help us live in an ecological way without too many sacrifices:
- use appliances well ; for example to run washing machines and dishwashers only at full load and avoid the dryers, which consume a lot of energy.
- Use natural products for home hygiene. Vinegar, for example, is descaler and degreaser; baking soda is great for hygiene in the kitchen; the lemon degreases and perfumes the environments ...
- Cooking with leftovers to make new dishes. Using advanced foods is a great way to do ecology and even economy.
- Use the car less and more the legs or the bicycle.
