Treating cystitis: the 10 most effective remedies

Cystitis is an inflammation of the lower urinary tract that affects both women and men with truly unbearable disorders.

Cystitis causes burning, spasms, urgency to urinate often .

The causes can be of different nature: very commonly it is of infectious origin against bacteria, some of which come from the intestine, such as escherichia coli, enterococcus, klebsiella .

There is also a chronic form of cystitis, the interstitial one, due to a progressive consummation of the bladder wall, devoid of bacterial presence, which requires purely medical intervention.

Nature provides us with some valuable remedies that we can use as needed, but also to prevent the onset of this unpleasant disorder.

Here are the 10 most effective natural remedies for cystitis.

1. D-Mannose

Those who cyclically suffer from cystitis must always have at home this fantastic remedy, D-Mannose, to be used also in prevention . It is a simple sugar extracted from larch and birch wood.

The intake of D-Mannose also in prevention on the one hand is able to restore the protective GAG layer of the bladder mucosa and could be an interesting remedy for those suffering from the interstitial form, on the other hand it counteracts the formation of protective barriers from part of the bacteria, preventing them from nesting on the bladder walls.

It is rich in flavonoids, anthocyanosides, citric acid and malic acid, which give this remedy also soothing and disinfecting properties of the urinary tract, creating a non-stick layer and helping to restore the right acid / base environment.

The infusion is particularly effective because in addition to increasing the amount of water we have to drink in case of cystitis, it allows arbutin, its important active ingredient, to enhance its disinfectant effects by activating with hot water.

When bearberry is taken we see a change in the color of the urine, turns towards the bluish-green, no fear, everything is restored once the intake is suspended.

When cystitis is in its most acute phase, it may be necessary to decrease the degree of acidity in the urine and the easiest to use antacid we can take is sodium bicarbonate: a teaspoon dissolved in a glass of water 5 times a day is the right dose to increase the alkaline degree.

This practice seems to help to enhance the effect of arbutin contained in bearberry. In any case the use of bicarbonate must not extend beyond the acute phase of the disorder because the acidic environment is necessary to protect the mucous membranes from attack by pathogens.
