Yoga is good for more and more Italians

A study by the US Center for Alternative and Complementary Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland, showed that the practice of the discipline is associated with the appearance of new neurons, as evidenced by the increase in gray matter volume in some key areas of the brain.

The research, carried out by Chantal Villemure and Catherine Bushnell, showed thanks to magnetic resonance imaging how the study group, practicing yoga, had actually increased its brain mass compared to the control group. This phenomenon, called " neurogenesis", or the process by which new neurons are generated from immature cells, was previously considered impossible by neuroscientists.

Yoga is good for the heart, brain and muscles

According to a review of studies published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, this Indian discipline would also produce positive effects on the main psychiatric disorders, such as depression, sleep disorders, ADHD (Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder) or schizophrenia.

Various other studies, published in "Journal of Physical Activity and Health" see yoga as a practice that impacts on the use of proteins in the female organism, on metabolism and on antioxidants in general, on diabetes and on the state of anxiety or post stress -traumatic.

On a physical level, those who practice it can be the first witness: yoga improves the elasticity of the muscles and gives well-being to the joints; stimulates and restores balance and centrality in the physical; re-educate the spine and relieve pain connected to the cervical spine.

The various asanas help promote circulation by strengthening the cardiovascular system.
