In the heart of the garden there are now wonderful autumn plants .

The alchechengi plant, commonly known as the cape gooseberry or more specifically Physalis alkekengi, can be cultivated quietly in pots on the balcony.

Beautyberry, the lilac berry of beauty

Also known as Callicarpa or American berry plant - American mulberry - it is a medium-sized shrub, originating in many areas of Asia, Australia, South America and Madagascar, perfect for planting in wet but drained and half-shaded areas, colored and decorative also to delimit the properties. The American mulberry has small lavender flowers during the summer, which become bright purple berries during the autumn. Deciduous leaves become a beautiful yellow during the cold season. Rather resistant to pests, they do not need pruning.

Caryopteris, the blue of the sea even in autumn

Medium-sized shrub, Caryopteris Clandonensis gives its best from August to September, giving splendid flowers in ultramarine panicles. It can be planted both in fertile and well-drained soil, and kept in large pots.

Crocus or autumn crocuses

This kind of saffron from the fields emerges from the bulbs in the ground just like the summer one, but after a few months. These flourishing bulbous plants of various colors, from white, to lilac, up to deep purple, can be planted in the garden or in the vase from June to the end of August. The autumnal Colichum is very suggestive in the splendid Album (white) or Waterlily varieties.

Solidago, yellow as the sun

A nice rustic grass with yellow ends, the solidago, a native of North America, can also be dried - in the “virga Aurea - variety to obtain excellent diuretic herbal teas. The flowers, gathered in nice and lively panicles, bloom from July to October. The solidago is a plant to be exposed to the sun or the partial shade, it also bears cold winter temperatures well.

Heather, the gentle delicate heather

Pink, white or purple, the heather is perennial and creates large carpets in bright colors that during the winter give a foliage with bronzed and amaranth tones. Beautiful to fill the gaps in the garden, it is also perfect in pots.

Jerusalem artichoke, beautiful and good

Yellow and bright, beautiful even in autumn, the untidy daisy flowers of Jerusalem artichokes lose interest when the tasty roots mature. It can be bought in October or November, before being planted in a short time, in rich, moist and well-drained soils.

All the nuances of the helenium

Yellow, orange, red, the flowers of the helenium - enula or inula - punctuate the gardens of the houses in autumn with their colors. These also come from North America, and there are about 40 species of this perennial wild plant, all with a very luxuriant flowering that continues even in the first cold crops. Similar to a large and high daisy, its petals look downwards, however.

Planted in full sun, it even resists -15 degrees, so it needs only a light mulching during the winter.

Heliopsis, the false sunflower

Heliopsis Helianthoides, also known simply as small Helianthus or "Lemon Queen", this cute little yellow sunflower, offers its flowers from late summer through to autumn. Originally from New Jersey and Arkansas, planted during the summer, it gives a nice splash of color during the coldest months.

Iberis or Mediterranean iberide

With white, pink or violet colors, it is a shrub that can reach considerable size if it is not pruned properly. It develops its flowers in cute tufts of color, it exists in perennial and annual varieties. The Iberide Semperflores is a typical evergreen of the Italian flora and gives fragrant white flowers.
