Endometriosis, homeopathic natural remedies

By Dr. Francesco Candeloro

Endometriosis is a disease that determines the presence of tissue in the uterine wall in locations where it normally should not be. Rather common in women between 30 and 40, the causes of the disorder are not known with certainty . Let's find homeopathic remedies to cure it.

Causes and symptoms of endometriosis

Endometriosis, or endometriotic disease, is a condition characterized by the presence of uterine wall tissue in locations where it normally should not be. This tissue undergoes, throughout the menstrual cycle, the same modifications as the uterine one (proliferative, secretory and menstrual flaking).

It is a pathology of the woman of childbearing age, most often between the ages of 30 and 40, who usually regresses into menopause. Despite the great interest that it arouses, especially as a possible cause of infertility in women, even today the causes at the origin of the disorder are not known with certainty, but simple theories are formulated in this regard (theory of dissemination by lymphatic and haematic route; theory iatrogenic, on surgical scars following cesarean section or interventions on the uterus; hormonal theory, with beneficial effect on the disorder of pills with low estrogen content and progesterone prevalence; other and different theories).

We distinguish an internal endometriosis when the tissue is still confined in the thickness of the uterine wall, and more precisely in the part below the endometrium, which is essentially muscular, and is called myometrium, and an external endometriosis, when the tissue is located outside the 'uterus and, more precisely, in the pelvis (ovaries, between rectum and uterus, between rectum and vagina, in the fallopian tubes, in the bladder, ureter or in the last portion of the colon) or, more rarely, outside the pelvis (navel, vagina, vulva, lungs, etc.).

Traditional therapy is based on the fact that estrogens stimulate the endometrium (proliferative phase), and therefore drugs that have an anti-estrogenic activity are used, in order to atrophy the ectopic tissue. This therapy can be prescribed to women with minimal endometriosis, or in preparation for surgery (in laparoscopy), to reduce the size of the tissue to be removed, or even after an operation, to improve its effectiveness.

Homeopathic remedies against endometriosis

The interest in treating endometriosis with homeopathy is essentially twofold and on the one hand it aims to reduce the intensity and frequency of pelvic pain, which often accompanies the menstrual phase of the cycle, and on the other to try to avoid recourse to surgical therapy, since pharmacological therapies do not always succeed in their intent and, above all, like all traditional therapies, they are certainly not free from secondary effects, sometimes even particularly annoying.

The main purpose of a homeopathic treatment and prevention therapy, in these cases, is to try to regularize the menstrual cycle and to favor the normal elimination of endometriotic tissue from unusual sites, intra or extrauterine, of implantation.

These are therapies that often require some time, precisely because most patients come to the observation of homeopathy when the disorders appear to be very dated, as endometriosis is often an affection of the woman who shows considerable diagnostic delay .

We recall in this regard that all the remedies of a particular evolutionary phase of the functional and, therefore, defensive-reparative disorder of the organism - a phase that we homeopaths call Sicosi - have a remarkable affinity for the uro-genital system.

Thuja, Lachesis, Staphysagrya, Medhorrhinum and Sepia will therefore often be indicated in individuals suffering from endometriosis, where, however, this ectopic localization of the tissue occurs also with a view to complex functional dysregulation, which brings to mind a further and more serious disorder of the whole organism.

At Sicosi, therefore, there would be, at different degrees, a different failure of the defensive-reparative capacity of the organism, which goes under the name of Luesinismo, and which will therefore lead us to the prescription, in some cases, of other remedies closer to this stage such as Lycopodium, Nux Vomica, Chamomilla, Platina and Luesinum .

Undoubtedly, finally, at the origin of everything there is an initial modification of the functional harmony of the reproductive function, which occurs for the most disparate modalities but always as a consequence of more or less initial traumatisms of the person, which therefore contribute to induce that initial chaos in the function that, over time, may evolve towards the disturbance in question, which is often the cause of infertility.

If therefore cured in time, all this can soon be attenuated and confined in time, with remedies that also have a great affinity for the uro-genital apparatus, among which we remember Pulsatilla, Ignatia and Arnica.
