Cornstarch, also known as cornstarch, is the starch contained in cornmeal . Cheap and easily available in any supermarket, corn starch is widely used in the kitchen to thicken puddings, creams and sauces and to make desserts lighter and softer.
In addition to recipes, corn starch is used in various household chores and thanks to its emollient and detergent properties it is also a precious ally for beauty.
We see some use of the lesser known corn starch.
To clean glass and mirrors
To remove stains from glass and mirrors, try this recipe:
100 grams of corn starch
100 ml of water
100 milliliters of white wine vinegar
Mix all the ingredients and pour into a spray. Use the detergent with a cotton cloth.

To clean carpets and soft toys
To remove dust and brighten up the colors of soft toys and carpets, sprinkle them with cornstarch and after an hour suck up the excess flour .
To clean dishes and silver
To give brilliance and shine to the silverware, mix cornstarch and water until you get a paste to rub on the objects.
When the starch and water paste is dry, remove it from the objects with a cloth.
Thanks to the degreasing power of the starch, the corn starch and water paste is also used to remove the grease from the pots.
To remove stains and starch fabrics
To absorb and remove grease stains from fabrics, sprinkle the stain and leave for half an hour, then proceed with washing.
To starch the fabrics, mix two tablespoons of cornstarch with a cup of water and put everything in a spray. Spray the mixture on the clothes before ironing them .
For skin irritations
To soothe skin irritations, mix equal parts of corn starch and a vegetable oil (olive, sunflower or sweet almond) and form a paste to be applied to the irritated area.
Leave for fifteen minutes, then rinse with warm water. This remedy also works in case of sunburn or to relieve the discomfort caused by insect bites.
To cleanse face and body
For an invigorating bath, add half a cup of baking soda, a half of lemon juice and two tablespoons of cornstarch to the hot tub water.
To clean the skin deeply, prepare a mask with a tablespoon of corn starch and a spoonful of coconut milk ; apply the mixture on the face and leave for 15 minutes, then rinse. In case of pimples and boils, replace coconut milk with apple vinegar.
Dry hair and animal hair shampoo
Thanks to its absorbent power, corn starch is also useful for cleaning hair when shampooing is not possible: just pour the starch on your hair and brush after about ten minutes.
If you want to clean the fur of your four-legged friend you can proceed in the same way.
To plug holes in walls
If you have finished the filler, prepare a paste with salt and cornstarch in equal parts and add a little water. Use the dough with a spatula exactly as you would do with stucco.
